Justice Alito temporarily grants Pennsylvania GOP request to enforce segregation of late ballots

The Washington Post is providing this important election information free to all readers.

Legal jockeying in Pennsylvania intensified Friday as Republicans asked the U.S. Supreme Court to ensure county election officials were segregating mail ballots delivered after Election Day, the latest effort by the GOP to use the courts to intervene in the vote count as former vice president Joe Biden’s advantage grew.

On Friday evening, Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr., who received the petition because he is the justice responsible for that region, approved the GOP request for now. He called for a response from state officials by Saturday afternoon.

Even if the high court were to ultimately side with Republicans, the impact would likely be muted: Pennsylvania officials said they are already setting aside the small number of mail ballots that have arrived since Tuesday.

GREAT NEWS!

Lots of things going on.

Trump is doing very well in AZ.

New batch of votes shows him 1 percent behind.

He’s been averaging gaining 1 percent per 2.5 percent new vote returns.

10 percent left to come in.

I think he will win by 1 or 2 percent

This was already ordered before the election. The order now should have been about holding people in contempt of court.

Personally, think they are in operation as a sting, a federal sting of massive size. Like all proper stings— secret so the quail aren’t flushed too soon.

I pray this is so! These criminals need to be caught and punished once and for all!

Yet you waste your time insulting people and posting Clint Eastwood videos on other posts.

Get back to work, Tuffy.

>I was not aware that the PA legislature authorized mass mail-in ballots.

I may be mistating their actions, but my understanding is they significantly liberalized what had been allowed for mail in voting, but included an 8pm election day arrival deadline in the same bill with those two, amongst several other nonseverable clauses.

Larry,

Something strange. The odds of this happening must be astronomical!

Of the top ten most historically accurate presidential election bellwether counties this election......Trump won 9 of them (including the top 5) by an average of 55-43. He lost the DE bellwether county by 47-51.

99% of all votes are in, there will be no flips. I used the DecisionDesk website to get the counties vote percentages

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_election_bellwether_counties_in_the_United_States

Valencia County, New Mexico – perfect with the EC winner since 1952.
Trump won 54-44

Vigo County, Indiana - 2 misses (1908, 1952)
Trump 56-41

Westmoreland County, Virginia – two misses since 1928 (1948 & 1960
Trump 54-45

Ottawa County, Ohio – one miss since 1948 (in 1960) 1964.
Trump 61-37

Wood County, Ohio – one miss since 1964 (in 1976)
Trump 53-45

Kent County, Delaware – two misses since 1928 (in 1948 & 1992).
BIDEN WON 47-51

Coös County, New Hampshire – two misses since 1892 (1968 & 2004)
Trump 51-48

Essex County, Vermont – one miss since 1964 (in 1976).
Trump 54-43

Juneau County, Wisconsin – one miss since 1952 (in 1960)
Trump 64-35

Sawyer County, Wisconsin – one miss since 1952 (in 1960).
Trump 64-35

I’m quite sure this has NEVER happened before!

Justice Alito temporarily grants Pennsylvania GOP request to enforce segregation of late ballots

Can one Justice do that singlehandedly?

Count and recount and examine them all. Then let the chips fall where they may.

That one was, but I hadn’t read an explanation of it in terms of the severability. That was news to me. You might have been in on that.

I don’t see them being quick to throw out so many legitimate ballots without a huge amount of evidence showing a completely tainted election with no other way out, but if what John is talking about is correct, there are definitely legal grounds to toss out the whole mail-in-ballot thing in PA entirely.
