Legal jockeying in Pennsylvania intensified Friday as Republicans asked the U.S. Supreme Court to ensure county election officials were segregating mail ballots delivered after Election Day, the latest effort by the GOP to use the courts to intervene in the vote count as former vice president Joe Biden’s advantage grew.
On Friday evening, Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr., who received the petition because he is the justice responsible for that region, approved the GOP request for now. He called for a response from state officials by Saturday afternoon.
Even if the high court were to ultimately side with Republicans, the impact would likely be muted: Pennsylvania officials said they are already setting aside the small number of mail ballots that have arrived since Tuesday.

Trump should put up $1 million of his own money as a reward to any fraudster who wants to come forward and expose the fraud operation. I would say that he should also promise to pardon that person of any federal charges, but that would probably be considered selling a pardon, so just hang onto that and possibly pardon the person or persons later.
They're going to claim that all these batches of 50,000, 75,000, 30,000 ballots that they been finding every few hours for the last three days *all* arrived before Tuesday.

I would think the burden would be on PA to show that they segregated the late arriving ballots properly so that they can be identified. If not, it might be ruled that the entire pool of ballots has been contaminated and disqualified. I doubt if the crooked PA officials would really want to hold a revote under court supervision.
This case is being litigated by skilled lawyers. For reasons their own their strategy was to obtain this sort of relief. If they had asked for it and it was denied, then it would be “bad news.”
My guess is that GOP wants to show the court that Pa. violated its own statute or that the governor modified the rules in violation of the U.S. constitution regarding which state branch of government can enact voting laws.
The GOP may also be looking to see how those ballots that came in after 8:00 were being handled, if stray marks were on them, etc.
These efforts are generally undertaken to get one’s “nose under the tent.”

Alito's opinion the week before election denying expedited Cert (d/t 4:4 tie on that), but requiring sequestration on the late arrivals on the chance it would get non-expedited Cert post election. He reviewed the PA legislative history in writing the legislative deadline for ballot arrival PA Supremes revoked. He pointed out the legislature had demonstrated they didn't believe Covid—the excuse PA Supremes used—was adequate. The deadline for mail ballot arrival and the authorization for mass mail ballots were explicitly written as non-severable. SCOTUS could rule that PA Supremes in changing the deadline de-authorized the mass mail ballots and throw them ALL out! Maybe a long shot, but Thomas and Goresuch concurred in this. Add literalist ACB and its up to Kavanagh.

a Warhouse in S. PHilly? The tracking “watermarks” from the DHS Cyber Security partnership with the 3 or 4 major printers that produce federally acceptable ballots-— will come into play most certainly.
The WaPo states it is a “small number” -— that’s their opinion— they cannot know the facts. It is not a small number, and if they cannot validate the ballots-— next order is... invalidated, not to be counted.
