I crossed the Mason-Dixon line today, driving north on Route 30 from the Baltimore area into Pennsylvania. I drove through farmland, side streets, developments, etc. Not unexpectedly, there were a healthy smattering of Trump signs/flags, but not as many as you would expect in this rural, pro-Trump area. What was striking, however, were the number of American flags that were out in front of houses. A couple of suburban developments south of Hanover had probably one American flag for every 5 houses, and there was probably a Trump sign/flag one to every 12 houses.
Weirdly, I saw zero Trump bumper stickers in my 2 hour drive through Trump country (I saw zero Biden anything all day). Additionally, there were a smattering of other possibly "shy" Trump supporters, e.g., thin blue line flag, "vote freedom," etc. Bottom line: I thought the Hanover, PA area was celebrating the 4th of July--that's how many flags were out in yards and on houses. Has the American flag replaced Trump signs?
“Has the American flag replaced Trump signs?’
Yes. And thank you for your report. Yes, the American flag is the covert and less obvious way to support Trump.
It seems that way to me. Its like the democrat party wont allow their members to be patriots any more.
We used to be able to unite under our flag. Sad.
What have you observed? Which state?
Try this, If you see a Biden sign then look to see if there is an American flag also. I’m betting there aren’t.
What's so weird about people not wanting their cars keyed?
I think you are correct about flags. Lot more flags than there used to be except on July 4. Don’t know of any houses with flags and Biden signs. Personally, I put in a 25’ lighted flag pole last year.
I have a Trump bumper sticker on a magnetic base. I drive with it displayed, but put it inside the car when parked, so as not to get keyed.
The Trump signs here (metro Dallas) are behind fences, nailed 10’ up in trees.
In the downtown part of Coeur d’Alene, ID the Biden yard signs actually outnumber the Trump yard signs...but there are few of each.
In the surrounding towns, there are FAR more Trump signs and no Biden signs.
What is REALLY obvious this election year is the huge Trump FLAGS and BANNERS flying on cars and pickup trucks. The are a lot bigger, much more bold and in-your-face than a wimpy bumper sticker. People are investing heavily in Trump flags here. You can’t run a short errand without seeing a coupe of pickup trucks (minimum) with their Trump (and often USA) flags flying in the breeze.
What about Chinese Communist Flags?
Yes, it has. I have talked to a number of neighbors about this. I live in South Central PA. It is a quiet way of showing support for Trump, but has greater roots to it. It is after all the American flag.
I have been flying the flag for a long time but it does double duty during elections, so yes.
My neighbor has one of each.
So do I but mine is a Trump flag.
Northern Minnesota here. No bumper stickers here... especially Trump. Who wants a car keyed? Lots of Trump signs. Was up to Grand Marais (tip of the arrowhead) yesterday to look at the colors and again lots of Trump signs and a smattering of Biden signs across the Iron Range... which was big union country for years. Walking around town there were a lot of quiet “thumbs up” at our hats. We’ll see...

I saw a post from my uber-lib sister, saying “If you see a Trump flag, you know who they’re voting for. If you see an American flag, they’re voting for Biden.”
I think she may be a BIT off.....
Sadly you are completely correct.
They are only flown in America's largest cities.
What’s totally weird is that in my state, the People’s Republic of Maryland, I haven’t seen one bumper sticker for either Biden or Trump in the last couple of weeks. You would not know that an election is coming up if you drove through Maryland. No signs, no stickers, etc. Yes, it is weird. Heck, even in 2012 Romney stickers were all over Republican areas of Maryland and PA. As Maryland is communist territory, its good news that Biden has no enthusiasm (Obama stickers were ubiquitous in 2008/2012). I’m hoping that Trump supporters are excited, but don’t want their houses/cars burned to a crisp.
