NBC’s Sunday Night Football Ratings Crash Nearly 30% for Woke Opening Weekend

The Sunday Night Football clash between the Rams and the Cowboys was supposed to halt the ratings crash the NFL has experienced so far in the 2020 season.

Spoiler alert, it most certainly did not halt the ratings crash.

According to DEADLINE Hollywood, ratings for NBC’s only weekly NFL game, were down a shocking 28%.

I guess it depends on the audience demographics. When it was said that the NBA playoffs were *only* seeing a 25%-30% drop, people here were disappointed. But according to the latest information I could find, which I think was from 2016, 45% of the NBA audience was black and 40% was white. The black percentage may be even higher coming into the 2019-20 season.

I can see nearly all blacks from the typical fanbase plus more due to the SJW nonsense showing up (what else are they going to do for entertainment?), so the overall drop there might be floored. Not sure of the fan demographics for the NFL.

Agreed. When people wondered how the NFL could start recovering from the Kaepernick debacle, looks no further than conservatives who couldn’t stay away from the game. I saw that even here in Central Texas the last two seasons. Football must be buried in the DNA of native Texans.

In another thread, people were talking about yesterday’s game. Even here there are STILL people who choose to support this nonsense.

Sadly, that seems to be a pretty common theme on the right. Conservatives complain about the current state of academia, but give to their alma mater without a thought. They complain about sports, but rush to renew those season tickets. And on and on...

In my opinion, as posted elsewhere, the most serious mischief, here, is that of Goodell & the NFL staff. The players are being set up by those who should never have sanctioned any of this.

This--as other reports of similar antics, is sickening. But the ultimate blame is not on the players, but the NFL bureaucracy, starting with Roger Goodell. With his sanctioning these "protests," many of the players--given the population of the League, are put in an incredibly awkward position, were they to refuse to participate in the Goodell sanctioned activities.

The coming together of obvious factors actually demonstrate the absurd betrayal of the players' actual interests by the NFL bureaucracy! Think about it.

Protesting or speaking out is one thing. What is not appropriate is for players making many millions of dollars, being displayed suggesting their race is not being fairly treated in contemporary America!

The players are being manipulated--made to look ridiculous-- by a media & their sycophants, as pawns in an attempted revolution. It calls to mind the French Revolution & the march on the Bastille led by the King's cousin from his enormous Left Bank palace, while dressed in peasant garb!

If Roger Goodell had a functional brain, he would not allow this farce, which can only make the high salaried participants look like ridiculous hypocrites!

Virtue signalling? No!! An inappropriate betrayal of reason!! Obvious betrayal of trust.

The NFL is not going to renegotiate with the networks. They bought it. They own it, whether they have to kick rebates to their advertisers or not. Since they are as woke as the NFL is they’ll likely agree to eat the losses in order to sustain the narrative.

That can’t go on forever, but I’m guessing there is enough cash already built into this system to sustain the illusion for several seasons.

A 30% steady drop in revenue would bankrupt the NFL or NBA and the teams. They wouldn’t be able to pay the players’ contracts. ESPN would collapse. The profit margin isn’t wide enough to survive a 30% drop. If it can be sustained.

I’m currently watching the Tour de France, and yesterday on the first time ever mountaintop finish on the Col de Colombier, a brute of a climb...apparently, this is in a covid ‘hot spot’, and the ‘gendarmes’ stopped everybody from getting to the summit, depriving a classic finish of the delirious fans closing in on the riders that is the signature image of the Tour...utter BS...
