Black, Latino and American Indian and Alaskan Native people were disproportionately hospitalized for Covid-19, according to a new analysis of 12 states' populations published Monday in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine.
...
In a nearly two-month period from late April to late June, there were 48,788 cumulative Covid-19 hospitalizations in the states that reported race and hospitalization data -- Arizona, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, Utah, Virginia and Washington.
"The share of the hospitalizations of White patients was substantially smaller vs. their share of the population in all 12 states," the authors found.
The authors found that the opposite was true for Black patients -- their percentage of hospitalizations exceeded the percentage of their representative proportion of state population. This was highest in Ohio, where Black patients accounted for 31.8% of hospitalizations and are 13% of the population. Minnesota, Indiana and Kansas also had particularly high rates of hospitalizations for Black people compared to the population.
Of the 11 states that reported the number of Covid-19 hospitalizations for Hispanic patients, 10 had hospitalizations for Hispanic patients that were higher than their representative proportion of the state population. This was most pronounced in Virginia, where Hispanic people accounted for 36.2% of hospitalizations, compared with 9.6% of the population.
...
American Indian and Alaskan Native populations, but in some of these states there was a substantial disparity. For example, in Arizona, this group account for 4% of the state's population but 15.7% of the hospitalizations. In Utah, this group accounted for 0.9% of the state's population, but 5.0% of hospitalizations.

Doesn’t that mean they are getting more and better medical care?
Coronavirus is a racist virus.
Just a wild guess: the racial makeup of a neighborhood will be reflected in the number of people being hospitalized. Not that this is relevant information, unless your world revolves around race.
In other words, they received preferential hospitalization while whites were sent home and told to tough it out on their own.
Were is the CDC on this easy connection between two dots?
One theory is they live more people to a house, most often a cultural thing.
Because they are together they are exposed to a higher viral load and therefore get sicker. Someone who is exposed to a smaller viral load often times won’t get as sick.
Any correlation with Medicaid and/or other government subsidized healthcare?
Racist. And if the stats were reversed, also racist.
I agree, more minorities should be hospitalized.
But, but I was told that minorities suffer from poor access to medical care. WTF
I think the virus is targeting DNA of certain races...
Ever go to a hospital ER in a city? Lots of minorities there with sniffles. They don’t have a family doctor to go to, they just use the ER. Apparently they don’t mind waiting around for five or eight hours to get a Tylenol and instructions to call them if it gets worse which is how ERs usually operate unless you have something like a heart attack or these days COVID. So it’s not surprising.
Another theory is that, based on what I see on TV in DC and neighboring Prince Georges County, the percentage of people engaging in block parties and other social events involving hundreds of people in very close proximity leans very heavily toward “People of Color”.
Paraphrasing Carville,
“It’s the behavior, Stupid”
The authors found that the opposite was true for Black patients — their percentage of hospitalizations exceeded the percentage of their representative proportion of state population.
The answer is simple and already in law for employment. Take steps to not bring in races that pervert the ratio of races in every locale.
In this case, refuse to let in minorities over their level of representation and sue those hospitals who unfairly help minorities over whites.
Normalize for media consumption.
Maybe instead of locking in people, should spend more time outside.
Weren’t black people encouraged NOT to wear masks?
Why yes. Yes there were.
Well, if youre going to go to the trouble of selecting, then doing a couple years of function gaining engineering upon a Plandemic Virus...
You might as well select for characteristic racist functionality so that your preferred race is impacted less than others.
