I arrived to the gym today and the girl at the desk told me that now masks are mandatory.
"I have to wear a mask while I'm working out?" I asked.
"No. You can take it off while you are working out. Just be sure to wear it while walking from place to place." She answered.
I picked up a 5 pound weight and made sure I carried it everywhere so I was always officially working out."
Insane
All gyms here closed since March. Hard on the businesses and rough on the members.
Madness, the new normal.
In California if you go to a gym you have wear a mask for any excercise unless you are excerting yourself then you have to workout outside
No cardio equipment of any kind.
No court sports.
No dancing
No showers
And I’m like “Dude I got weights at home. I don’t need you. I wanted the extra machines and cardio but hey, I don’t have to have it. You’re fired”
Hmmm.. That could work in restaurants, too. Walk in eating something until you get to your table.
Good solution. My gym (a Y) did the same thing but a lot of people are getting sick of it. I wear a small silk bandanna (under my nose) and then drop it immediately after getting in the door. Nobody has said anything yet. But picking up a weight is a great idea.
Today at a class, the instructor, a nice, thirty something woman said that the thing she misses most is not being able to touch people. She likes to pat people on the back if they’ve done well, touch them on the shoulder to say hello, touch them to correct their position, etc. She almost looked like she was going to cry when she said this (she was apologizing for having touched somebody she hadn’t seen for awhile).
This is so destructive to us and it’s ruining our lives.
Same thing at Gold’s here in Colorado.
I’m sure virus spreads from sweat. They need industrial size sanitizers next to every piece of equipment. Hose them down and let them dry before getting on or picking it up.
Wore a mask for the first time yesterday. Though they’ve been mandatory for months
Had to go to the state liquor store and they weren’t fooling around.
No big deal.
Also wore it in the big grocery store, that was probably unnecessary but cases have quadrupled here in the last two weeks so gave it a try.
Came home and took off my shoes and washed my hands.
People- don’t track mud into your homes and don’t track the virus in either!
Shoes are more important than masks IMO.
Looks like gyms will be closed again here. Identified as a major spreader of the virus including one patron who gave it to dozens and then died.

Actually, I think it is. I checked out a restaurant that had a “mask mandatory” sign, but all the people seated were without masks.
And we have some idiots right here on FR who think this lunacy is brilliant!

No sympathy for businesses/members who do nothing to fight this. The fighter need not fall on his sword. Telling the truth about phony “case” reports on Facebook, for example, can be more effective than most people think.
i went to walmart with a mask on my wrist. when the greeter looked at me i held my hand over my mouth. after going in i put my hand down for the whole time i was in. technically i was wearing a mask lul. people glared at me and the recorded message about distancing played over and over but nobody approached me. the only other person in walmart without a mask was the hot blonde lady looking at ammo in the guns section, “i kid you not.”
I’m actually surprised any gym is open. For the life of me, I can’t understand why anyone would go to a business establishment during a pandemic where breathe heavily and sweat all over the place. It’s barely tolerable for me even under normal conditions!
I was just getting ready to sign up at LA Fitness using my Silver Slippers...err Sneakers card when the COVID hit. The gym closed down and remains closed.
From what I understand, they make you wear a mask while you walk from the front door to your table. If you walk into the restaurant eating you can be mask free. Just my attempt at a lame joke. Heh.
At my gym everybody, including the employees, totally ignores the mask order.
So sad...
So many American are falling for this B.S.
