President Donald Trump is cancelling the Republican National Convention in Jacksonville, he announced Thursday during a White House briefing.

Your family certainly goes against the norms, don’t they?
Two people in your family recently lost to covid? Hmmm. Very unlikely.
Something like 70-80% support nationwide for schools reopening, but six mothers in your family (who are lucky to be alive apparently, given your family’s proclivity for covid) have all decided to home school this year?
Wow. Bullshit.
I think it make sense... the riots would over take the message....peaceful ones like in chicago...please watch to end, it is not graphic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XJy3sTz3Ww
It’s the God’s honest truth.
Oldtime Freepers will vouch for my veracity.
Take your snark elsewhere.
It is time for men to outvote women. Come on guys and Im a woman!
Concur; adapt to changed conditions.
Those are all goo suggestions. Talk to everyone, everyone is a potential Trump vote or a potential non-voter.
Since many of the participants are elderly, hydroxychloroquine would be contraindicated.
Plus a lot of these old guys and gals are vulnerable to the virus moreso in a closed, packed venue.
Many have comorbidities like high blood pressure, overweight, and liver problems.
Trump has done the right thing by cancelling .
I agree
The older folks would go, too
Darn right.
I’m sure his internal polls are assuring him that the pandemic is a major concern for multitudes of voters.
You are the second healthcare person, that I personally know of, that insists this is a YUGE hoax.
Our President has been painted into a corner. If the convention takes place, one can be certain outbreaks will be contact traced back to the convention and will be non-stop fodder for the press from convention to election day, not to mention the political ads repeating the same. Now that JAX is off the table, and seemingly a traditional convention altogether, our President has ceded what seemed to be his position that the China virus is an overblown Bolshevik ploy perpetuated by the media. So here we are, at a crossroads, where liberty intersects tyranny, and many Americans are thirsting for daddy to kiss their boo boo. Some do so understanding the implications of their subservience, or they just do not give a sh$t and want want want. Most, however, being so meticulously groomed into thirsty little bots by communism over the past 1/2 century +, have no idea they are lead actors in a play that threatens to destroy the single greatest nation the world has ever known. President Trump MUST cut through the media filter and reassure America, the ones of us who care and those who have enough sense to care, that there are brighter days ahead. We will not give in to the pressures of collectivism, we will cherish our individualism, and restore the allure of patriotism. Nil desperandum, — Never Despair. That is a motto for you and me. All are not dead; and where there is a spark of patriotic fire, we will rekindle it. Samuel Adams

Ping.
Next Friday?
He should come to Texas.
You are welcome to your opinion, though you are both wrong. = (Even ignorant, worthless opinions are OK, as it’s called freedom of speech/thought/expression.)
To Spktyr,
Complaining/Whining/Carping about another member’s typing style, no matter how eccentric, makes you LOOK foolish & simply silly, unless/until you become “perfect in every way”.
(Is your middle name “KAREN”, perchance??).

Many people here project their beliefs on others thinking how could the other guy win. I recall both Obama victories and folks here said the polls were wrong and there is no way Obama could win - well the polls were correct and he did win. The polls also showed Trump losing the national vote by 2 to 3 points to Hillary and that is what happened. The individual state polls in some key states were wrong.
So forget the polls if you want, but pay attention to where the Trump campaign puts its campaign resources.
The new campaign manager has withdrawn all resources from CO, NM and VA, conceding those three states to Biden, which was never really in doubt for Biden anyway and has put those resources in Texas - which should be a slam dunk. So that leads credence to reports last week that Trump's internal poll was leading in Texas by only 2 points and Republicans were leading the congressional generic poll by just 1 point in Texas. So, thankfully, the election is not today because I believe Trump would lose, but there is time to recover.
The first votes will be cast in 6 short weeks.
Trump did what he did today because the logistics of having a convention at this time is difficult at best. Recall his Tampa rally - only 2/3 of the arena was filled - people are scared - even Republicans.
I think it is overblown, but telling the millions of suburban women out there that it is overblown is a slap in their face, basically telling them that he does not take their concern seriously, which is not a smart way to try to get elected.
Now the media will stop covering Florida twenty-four seven and it’s surging pandemic. In a week it will just fade away from the news cycle!!
Well thought out post. I am leaning in the same direction but I believe it is somewhat closer. I also think there are many things yet to come that are going to have a large impact on the voting.
