As Alabama GOP Senate primary looms, Trump takes closing shot at Jeff Sessions
The Washington Times ^ | JULY 11, 2020 | JAMES VARNEY

Posted on 07/11/2020 12:13:57 PM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

President Trump reminded voters Saturday morning he’d like to block a return to Washington for his former Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

“Big Senate Race in Alabama on Tuesday,” Mr. Trumptweeted, while urging voters to back former Auburn football coach Tommy Tuberville in the July 14 primary. “Jeff Sessions is a disaster who has let us all down. We don’t want him back in Washington!”

The winner of Alabama’s GOP primary runoff will face Democratic Sen. Doug Jones in November. Mr. Jones rode a torrent of out-of-state money and scandals engulfing his GOP opponent to win a special election in 2017, and while he remains flush with cash he is considered the most vulnerable Democratic incumbent by most political analysts.

Mr. Sessions, whom all polls show trailing Mr. Tuberville, has sought to define the latter with unproven record, warning GOP primary voters of happened three years ago when former state supreme court justice Roy Moore was buried under allegations of sexual misconduct with a young woman decades ago.

Attacks against the frontrunner, Mr. Tuberville, have escalated in the campaign’s final weeks, with stories resurfacing about his light disciplinary touch with talented players at Auburn, and the extent of his involvement in a sketchy investment fund that went south and led to a fraud conviction against his former partner in the enterprise.

But limping into the runoff after a second place finish, Mr. Sessions has had to labor under Mr. Trump’s endorsement of Mr. Tuberville, and the president’s myriad reminders that Mr. Sessions almost immediately recused himself in the so-called Russian collusion investigation, leaving Mr. Trump vulnerable his first two years in office to bogus charges his campaign was in cahoots with the Kremlin.

Yes, we here in Alabama have a big election for the GOP candidate to go stomp the liberal, baby murdering agree-er Jones, into the ground!!! We wound up with Jones after the Judge Moore mess, when most of the GOP side stayed home. I voted for Moore to keep Jones out of the Senate, but it did not matter in the end as Moore lost. Now, we need to pay Jones back for lost years. We HAVE to keep the Senate. Taking back this seat would be a step in the right direction for that!! (PS to readers - - Is your spell checker here in FR working? That nice little red line under a miss spelled or typo. Mine has stopped working here and it works everywhere else on the web.)

Wow. Good to see a Sessions supporter this early in the thread. I too always liked Senator Sessions for his conservative views.

Another tweet from President Trump that, imho, really has no positive purpose.

Loose twitter Mr. President from now until this very important election is over. Please!

Sessions upon his swearing in:

“...I do. And furthermore, recuse myself from anything the democrats want me to.”

Sessions is a weak disloyal piece of shit. He deserves at best a lifetime in political exile.

I think Sessions is too much of a patriot to block POTUS policies or work against him in the Senate.

Sessions ran cover for the deepstate when he was AG, giving them time to regroup, cover their tracks, and come up with a new strategy.

Sessions knew he was going to recuse himself but never told Trump so Trump could re-evaluate his options.

He put “Sessions First” (his SINFUL SELFISH DESIRE to be AG) instead of “America First”.

By doing so, he put America and Americans in dangerous peril from the Marxists.

Our President fights tirelessly for us. The communists have put him through hell, aided by this arrogant, selfish bastard. Trump has repeatedly asked Alabamians to keep Sessions OUT of Wash., D.C. The least Alabamians can do is respect and support his request.

Shelf The Elf.

For what ever reason Sessions did not reveal his plans to Trump. He had months to do so.
Sessions is a traitor and only those wanting a downfall to the US support him..

“””Protect and defend the constitution. Not protect Trump’s seedy friends.””””

You are quite the genius.

Which of Trumps “seedy friends” are you referring to?

Strzok?
Page?
McCabe?
Brennan?
Comey?
Rosenstein?
Mueller?

Mr. Jones rode a torrent of out-of-state money and scandals engulfing his GOP opponent to win a special election in 2017

And the author forgot to mention the OpenAI computer /tech folks that played the "role of Russia" in election meddling in that election...

SNIP >>>Hoffman-financed groups — New Knowledge (NK) and American Engagement Technologies (AET) — allegedly used social media in 2017 to undermine support for Republican Roy Moore’s senatorial campaign and boosted his opponent, Democrat Doug Jones, who narrowly won the race. Jones has since publicly called for an investigation into the caper. Operatives involved in the ploy created thousands of Twitter accounts posing as Russian bots in order to boost Jones. There is evidence the campaign caused a splash. Major media outlets — both in Alabama and nationally — fell for the gambit and amplified the false narrative in October 2017.------- ----Tech Billionaire Allegedly Behind A False Flag Operation Played A Role In Creating Fake News...,Daily Caller ^ | 2/24/19 | Chris White

His job was to protect the rule of law and he knew the entire Russian investigation was a hoax from the beginning.

[I wish Trump would have stayed out of this primary. I get that he is disappointed in Sessions’ terrible performance as AG; but if Sessions wins, Trump will then have to back Sessions after having trashed him in favor of his opponent. The bad blood could even turn Sessions into a never-Trumper on important Senate votes.]

Trump never lets the big picture get in the way of personal vanity. It’s who he is. Like pretty much anyone else, he’s a package deal - you take the good with the bad. And at this point, it’s not as if the GOP is going to change horses.
