Anti-Vaccination Activists Are Growing Force at Virus Protests
NY Times ^ | 5/2/2020 | Nicholas Bogel-Burroughs

The protest on Friday in Sacramento urging California’s governor to reopen the state resembled the rallies that have appeared elsewhere in the country, with crowds flocking to the State Capitol, pressing leaders to undo restrictions on businesses and daily life.

Got the flu one year despite it, and one year felt bad for months after the shot

My one experience with it was just like your second experience. I was sick for weeks and it screwed up the left sinus for a long long time. Decided the flu vaccine ain't for me.

Practice prevention, not that difficult with covid-19.
And improve your own body’s ability to produce anti-bodies before the virus overwhelms your body and makes you so sick, recovery becomes difficult.

Millions of years living in the jungle during evolution, our bodies know how to combat viruses better than any vaccine.

Eat well, sleep enough, and exercise regularly....and your body will create all the anti-bodies required.

Rabies, tetanus, things that kill, I’ll take that vaccine. Flu? rather just build immunity the normal way.

The wife works at a nursing home. She’s done it for the past several years and worked at a couple of different facilities. We were sick a lot for the first couple of years but haven’t been sick in 2-3 years. I guess we’ve had every strain of fly there is and have become immune. I’ve never been one to curl up under a blanket when I’m sick. I just push through it for the most part. If it’s warm(lived in FL 25 yrs), I’ll go sit in the sun and let it bake that stuff out of me. When I am under a blanket, as in sleep time, I’ll pull them up over my head and sweat/bake it out. Sort of a self induced fever. Never felt really bad for more than 2-3 days, until I got that flu shot. I felt really bad for 2 weeks that time.

and now at 50+ years, I’m developing allergies. yay Oak pollen covering everything right now. Like having a damn cold all the time and I can’t take Benadryl. I haven’t been into tripping since I was 17 but that’s how it makes me feel and not a good trip either. Same with Sudafed. Some of us just aren’t built for certain man made meds. Some people can get sensitized to certain man made chemicals. Some people get cancer from man made stuff while others don’t. It’s just the way it is and I’m one of those vaxxers I guess because I do believe they’re causing autism. I have an autistic son and I know the timing of a round of shots he got and a switch being thrown in his brain and him becoming a completely different child.

“Practice prevention, not that difficult with covid-19.”

I don’t recall medical types wearing P-95 masks and PPEs when dealing with most other illnesses. It’s highly infectious.

“And improve your own body’s ability to produce anti-bodies before the virus overwhelms your body and makes you so sick, recovery becomes difficult.”

Which could actually increase your chance of dying from Covid. The massive immune response known as cytokine storm is suspected to be causing the fatal as opposed to mild cases.

I am speaking of prevention by NON_MEDICAL people like me.

Was on a crowded cruise ending on Feb 29th, 2020.
Been to grocery stores at least once a week since the cruise ended. But I leave if I hear any one coughing nearby in store.
Been to bank and pick up restaurant food many times.
Accompanied wife every 3 weeks for her chemo treatment to sit in with the doctor.
Filled in gas a few times touching the dirtiest place touched by many others...the gas pump dispenser.

Only thing we have been doing is wash hands before touching face. Wearing mask mainly helps others getting infected by you.

The “massive immune response” occurs only after your anti-bodies fail to kill the virus.

There is nothing more important to fight ANY VIRUS than aerobic exercise regularly. Strong lungs are our best asset. Which is why I have very little fear of getting really sick with massive immune response. My lungs have too much oxygen moving in and out for the virus to take a foothold.

I simply can not believe how energetic I feel at age 80 due to daily aerobic exercise. People in my gym think I am in early 60’s watching me exercise.

Yes, something is in the air in Florida right now, because I get stuffy nose often. I just swallow one of those red allergy pills bought from dollar store and then my stuffy nose gets all better very quickly, and is good for 1 to 3 days.

“The “massive immune response” occurs only after your anti-bodies fail to kill the virus.”

That isn’t remotely accurate.

That is my best guess. When anti-bodies are inadequate or absent to kill the virus, the virus grows and keeps destroying lung tissue. Then body goes into desperation mode, sending everything it has got to the site of infection. It is Lupus like response. Lupus is a disease where body attacks its own tissue. Which may be why HCQ has worked with covid patients when treated early in the game, before the body has destroyed the lung with massive immune response.

Cytokine storm isn’t a last ditch fight. It’s an immune system gone berserk that only affects some people. The cytokine storm itself can destroy lung tissue.

“Which may be why HCQ has worked with covid patients when treated early in the game, before the body has destroyed the lung with massive immune response”

HCQ works on Covid for an entirely different reason than why it’s used on lupus. It’s a zinc ionophore which allows zinc to cross the cell membrane. Once inside of cells the zinc interferes with replication of the virus. That trait is of no interest when used against lupus.

So... a simple question comes to mind, why are 88% of deaths occurring in people with 2 or more comorbidities? My guess is because those people can not manufacture anti-bodies fast enough to kill the virus.

The four main comorbidities of non-survivors are diabetes 22%, hypertension 20%, coronary disease 16%, asthma 6%. Obesity is another.

Diabetics have poor immune systems and are always at risk for infections. Diabetics and hypertensives are often treated with ACE inhibitors which increase expression of ACE2 and may make Covid infection more likely. Asthma increases lung risk. Obesity makes breathing more difficult.

Thank you for the info on ACE inhibitors. I will stop taking my small dose 10 mg Lisinopril for a few weeks until the virus goes away.I really do not need it because my BP stays below 135/85 without it and I exercise plenty. But there is so much sodium in restaurant food, and prepared foods, it is always an overload.

Yep. Prepared foods/restaurant foods have a high sodium content. Sometimes very high. If I stay away from them my blood pressure will be 120s/70s.
