Rush Limbaugh announces he has 'advanced lung cancer'.
Fox News ^ | 2/3/2020 | Brian Flood

Longtime influential conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh announced on his show Monday he was diagnosed with "advanced lung cancer," a shocking announcement in which he said he will miss shows for treatment.

“This day has been one of the most difficult days in recent memory, for me, because I’ve known this moment was coming,” Limbaugh said. “I’m sure that you all know by now that I really don’t like talking about myself and I don’t like making things about me… one thing that I know, that has happened over the 31-plus years of this program is that there has been an incredible bond that had developed between all of you and me.”

Dear God. I wonder if this could've been diagnosed MUCH earlier *before* it became "advanced"?

Being in a high risk group, it could have been detected a number of years ago by an insurance paid Low Level CT scan for those in the high risk category.

It’s more likely they’ve had the cure for years but kept it available only for the rich and powerful and politically connected. Ever wonder how RBG is still alive after having several bouts of pancreatic cancer? There’s your answer.

But, the news had to be “accidental discovery” otherwise the people would drag pharmaceutical companies’ BoD into the streets and set them on fire.

I’m shocked as I assumed Rush would have had regular checkups, chest x-rays, etc, to watch after the things that afflict one in their 50s and 60s. ..

That's what occurred to me as well. Hasn't he been getting yearly physicals?

If he has, then having lung cancer go undetected until it reaches Stage 4 is not encouraging for any of us.

Researchers at Cardiff University that were in the midst of analyzing blood from a bank accidentally stumbled into an “entirely new type of T-cell” according to The Daily Wire.
Scientists In Britain May Have Just “Accidentally” Found A Cure For Cancer.

The new cell carries a “never before seen” type of receptor that acts like a grappling hook, latching on to most human cancers. The therapy has already worked on lung, skin, blood, colon, breast, bone, prostate, ovarian, kidney and cervical cancer cells.
“This new type of T-cell therapy has enormous potential to overcome current limitations of CAR-T, which has been struggling to identify suitable and safe targets for more than a few cancer types,” said Professor Oliver Ottmann, Cardiff University’s Head of Haematology. Trials on terminally ill patients could start as soon as November.

“Lung cancer is very hard for doctors to find in its early stages. Even if you have symptoms, like a cough or feeling tired, you might not feel bad enough to see a doctor. Most people are diagnosed after their disease becomes advanced. Although there’s no cure for lung cancer at this stage, there are treatments that can make symptoms easier to handle.”

Why would a researcher keep a secret cure to cancer? You suggest it would be to benefit the rich and elite who by and large do get better healthcare than the average person. However, your hypothesis fails miserably with the death of Steve Jobs and many other billionaires from cancer.

Why do people continue to say this? The “maker” of any magic drug to defeat cancer would instantly be among the most valuable companies in the world. Instantly. The researcher who discovered such a drug would instantly be known to history and the world.

They would not keep it secret nor would they only use it for a handful of the elite. Such an idea is completely preposterous on so many levels I have not even scratched the surface. Such a research team would be recorded to history as an evil bunch much like the worst of the Nazi researchers in the holocaust.

Breakthroughs in cancer will come because of capitalism and the free market. Period. That is the engine that drives good things for humanity without fail. It will not be hidden and the overwhelming majority of top researchers in the field are very committed to their research and finding a cure for this horrific affliction upon humanity that benefits the world, their own families, and their own community. To suggest otherwise in some wild conspiracy is unwarranted.

You need to think this through....

Cancer is not a death sentence anymore. Treatment has advanced. He has a hard road. But, it more depends on his over all health.

Isn’t it interesting that a billionaire goes to Washington, and we may have “accidentally discovered” a cure for all cancers? Perhaps a Good Man who is not in D.C. for his own enrichment, but for the good of humanity might, maybe, perhaps, could have pushed for this acknowledgment behind the scenes to ultimately release the cure? Just a wild thought.

‘You need to think this through....’

it’s probably true that a cure is not being purposely hidden, but it is completely true that costs, in terms of chemo and others, are artificially inflated by the mixed cocktails that are given, such as Taxol and some carboplaten...these combos are called therapy regimens, and are standard treatment in US...

If I am understanding your point it is that the wealthy and affluent receive better treatment than the rest of humanity.

This is likely true. The world is not fair. But consider the healthcare the average American receives who has no insurance and shows up at the ER. It is far beyond what the majority of the world receives.

The best guarantee of good health care, a good standard of living, and a clean environment is a wealthy and prosperous society. Therefore, based on logic, the best solution to the ills of the world is free markets and capitalism. It makes life better for everyone even if it never attains equal outcomes for all.
