And won’t the production of these plants increase greatly the use of water and evil fossil fuels used in farming? Couldn’t their proposed solutions actually be counter productive?

Since when does that stop the econazis from imposing their edicts? Take ethanol gasoline where the overall effects are more resource intensive and takes away food producing acreage off the market.
