PBS announces Jim Lehrer died this morning at age 85.

OOPS.
Mine was Tom. :-)
I liked Lehrer. Despite his left leanings, he always conducted himself with class and professionalism.
RIP
I watched a lot of the MacNeil/Lehrer Newshour as a young teen....and needless to say I was just as boring outside the house too.
Certainly better than anything the left sticks on TV today.
Jim Lehrer wrote an very underestimated book that was made into a underestimated movie.
Peter Ustinov, Jonathon Winters and others....

In days gone by, we would work together in Freeper groups to do something or find an answer.
Do you think it might be possible to have a FReeper investigation to find the source for who provides and how the daily democrat word or phrase talking point is promulgated?
It would seem there is a conspiracy to control the agreeable media and promulgate daily propaganda that is not in America’s best interest. The process is in fact cancerous bias
Who is it? Where is their secret dungeon?
I agree. McNeil-Lehrer was usually very good at having opposing and well-articulated viewpoints on current issues; something sorely lacking these days.
Nobody on the “left” conducts themselves with class!
I began watching the Newshour at about 25. It quickly replaced the network news for me and allowed for alternative viewpoints on issues instead of quick pictures and sound bites. Don’t know about Jim’s politics but did enjoy him and Robyn.
Agreed. Tom was great.
I miss David Brinkley:
Days before he announced his retirement from regular news coverage, Brinkley made a rare, on-air mistake during evening coverage of the 1996 United States presidential election at a moment when he thought he was on commercial break. One of his colleagues asked him what he thought of the prospects for Bill Clinton’s re-election. He called Clinton “a bore” and added, “The next four years will be filled with pretty words and pretty music and a lot of g—d-— nonsense!” One of his team pointed out that they were still on the air. Brinkley said, “Really? Well, I’m leaving anyway!” Brinkley offered Clinton an apology during a one-on-one interview a week or so later.
R.I.P.
It used to be by FAX, now it’s done on social media, texting etc.................
A Texan and in Dallas on JFKs fateful day late Nov 1963, as it seems so many were including me, but I was in first grade in Irving
