Gov. Ralph Northam: Register Your AR-15 with Government or Hand It Over

Gov. Ralph Northam (D) announced Monday his “assault weapons” ban will mean AR-15 owners can either register their guns with the government or hand them over.

The Virginia Mercury reported Northam spokeswoman Alena Yarmosky used a statement to say, “The governor’s assault weapons ban will include a grandfather clause for individuals who already own assault weapons, with the requirement they register their weapons before the end of a designated grace period.”

Yarmosky made clear details on other gun controls will be made known before the start of the 2020 session in which Democrats take charge.

Just a way to find out who has them and then they will make the owners turn them over to the gov.

They did this in my little town years ago.

When I left for TX ( that’s Texas, Free America), I had over 200 years’ worth in state prison.

LOL, but seriously, that any firearm accessory can send one to prison shows we Americans continue to lose more freedoms.

My once great state of Washington has also gone over to tyrants and assorted other fascists. They are all about incrementalism and being patient in usurping our freedoms.

I'm old, I won't ever give my firearms up without a fight.

Reminds me of the time a friend picked his gun up from the police department evidence room after a break in (after having his lawyer write a letter):

Fat cop handed over the AR-15 and said, "You shouldn't have that type of gun. One day I'll be taking it from you".

The gun owner signed the receipt and said, "When your fat ass is on my front door, I'll know the real cops have taken a lot of casualties doing such a dumb thing"....and smiled while walking away.

I am laughing from occupied territory in California.

...and my inlaws all moved from CA in the last 10 years to ID, WY, CO, NV, and TX. My FIL was the last to move, 2 years ago from Ventura County (TO) to CDA, ID. Once he unpacked his guns, and we did inventory, we counted over 1000 years in a CA prison for his collection.

Now he owns Title 2 guns and suppressors I make for him as an 07/02 FFL/SOT.
He also pays 7% state income tax vs 13%.
His 1,200 Sq/ft home in Thousand Oaks got him and MIL a 4 car garage, 4,000 Sq/ft house on 10 acres in ID.
Gas is $2.50/gal.
Car registration is almost zero.
Hunting lisence is CHEAP.
His grocery store uses paper bags.
He uses straws.
Cops leave him alone.
He can say what he wants to and if someone disagrees they all laugh and shake hands.
