Graham said that he and Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., plan to introduce veto-proof bipartisan sanctions that will call for Turkeys suspension from NATO if it invades Syria and attacks Kurdish forces.
This decision to abandon our Kurdish allies and turn Syria over to Russia, Iran, & Turkey will put every radical Islamist on steroids, Graham added. Shot in the arm to the bad guys. Devastating for the good guys.
Nikki Haley, Trumps former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, was unequivocal in her criticism. We must always have the backs of our allies, if we expect them to have our back. The Kurds were instrumental in our successful fight against ISIS in Syria. Leaving them to die is a big mistake. #TurkeyIsNotOurFriend

Yep. There is absolutely no way of telling what circuits are in the chips.
Well said.
The purpose of a small number of US troops would be to stand by the Kurds who helped defeat ISIS. The agreement by the US, Turkey and others provides for a buffer zone in northern Syria between the Kurds and Turkey. A US presence should dissuade Turkey from violating the agreement and attacking the Kurds beyond the agreed upon buffer.
Turkey is no longer a good NATO ally and Erdogan has his own agenda and visions of new caliphate.
Getting back to topic. Let the Russians deal with Syria.
Ask those ex-military friends of yours why the hell the U.S. was in Syria in the first place.
I know, I know, Because during the Fog of War with Billions and Billions of American taxpayer Dollars flowing into the War, Dozens,Hundreds, maybe All of the Political Class get their skim from the Aid, illegal weapons deals, drugs, you name it, that is siphoned off through Fraud and Corruption allowing our very own Politicians that Started the WAR to get RICH!!
$128 Trillion in Debt & liabilities. Enough.
Our presence in Syria was illegal & started by Obama, who helped create ISIS & allowed it to flourish in Iraq & Syria.
The Bushes certainly did stir up the mideast hornets nest with their stupid ventures. Obama then followed with his incompetence. We’ll see what Trump’s move brings.
You are talking about when they declared independence from Britain. It would be suicide for a nation to not have a standing military.
Tripwire troops. The purpose is to force US military involvement should the Russians, Iranians, Syrians, or Turks attack. We had similar reasons to station troops in West Berlin.
Military men are not good judges. They tend to “go asiatic” and emotionally invest in whatever war they are sent to. Sanity demands they do so, rather than face the reality that it is bad policy.
It is not our place to seize and permanently defend a torn off part of Syria on behalf of the Kurds.
How many US kids and dollars should we spend doing this? Especially when our our borders are under a human wave attack of a million plus per year, and an Intelligence community coup is being actively pursued against the government.
Time to come home, and focus on home.
This should just be the start of it...
Syria now, then Afghanistan, then Iraq, then Germany, then Japan, rinse and repeat until clean.
Not our circus, not our monkeys. The world is a miserable place. Its not our place to police it especially with our most valuable treasures our kids.
“But as I said, these are friends who have risen to the ranks of Colonel and General in the Army and General in the Air Force. Lots of different people, all who would describe themselves as A-political. They see this the same way.”
Colonels and Generals never see a war they think we need out of. And they are all Georgetown and JFK School of Govt graduates, firmly committed to the globalist cause. They are myopic and get too close to the locals. This causes them to confuse local causes as being natural American interests.
Then they all have designs on consulting, defense industry, and intel contractor jobs after retirement. All of those require them to see the globalist neocon line as accurate.
They are not trustworthy to DECIDE policy and should stick to executing it.
Nobody thinks a politician is the best person to decide military tactics, targets, weapons loads, etc. It’s universally understood that they suck at it. Likewise, Colonels and Generals are nightmarishly bad at deciding WHEN and WHERE we should have a war.
A standing military designed for the perpetual occupation of foreign countries would have been completely alien to the founders of this country.
The whole purpose of the American Revolution was to get AWAY from a government that operated that way.
” Were talking 1,000 guys. Not a massive deployment. If thats all that can truly make a difference, then why not?”
You willing to get your kid killed for the cause of Syrian separatist regional Kurdish autonomy?
The management of the central bank must be absolutely free from the dangers of control by politics and by private interests, singly or combined.
In direct opposition to the US Constitution.
Yes and I don’t think the US Army belongs in the middle of that.
Ask those ex-military friends of yours whether they are willing to don packs and boots and uniforms and stand in the line of fire.
“ISIS was one of the most savage and monstrous forces to emerge in the world in many decades.”
Created, funded, and launched by the US Intel community, the State Dept, USAID and the Saudis and Gulf States with the goal of expanding Sunni theocracy to Syria.
Never forget, the evil Assad ran the only nation there where a woman could be a christian or a jew, drive herself to the beach, drink local wine or beer, and wear a normal swimsuit.
Our government wanted to replace that with a Sunni theocracy. Isis was created and got out of hand.
Ever wonder why they had a matching fleet of brand new Toyota HiLux trucks? New TOW missiles? Matching uniforms and gear? Why they could drive through empty desert highways from town to town in broad daylight with ZERO fear of air attack like Kuwait Highway or the Stukas over Dunkirk?
The reason is obvious...
