Britain calls for European naval mission

Britain called on Monday for a European-led naval mission to ensure safe shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, days after Iran seized a British-flagged tanker in what London described as an act of “state piracy” in the strategic waterway.

...“We will now seek to put together a European-led maritime protection mission to support safe passage of both crew and cargo in this vital region,”

In Nicaragua, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif accused the British tanker of endangering shipping by turning off its signal for longer than permitted and by “passing through the wrong channel.”

Zarif said Iran’s actions were not in retaliation for the British capture of an Iranian tanker two weeks earlier in Gibraltar and he warned the West against “starting a conflict,” saying Tehran was not seeking confrontation.

Good. It’ll expose that France and Germany expect someone else to do the heavy lifting while they enjoy the benefits.

Ironic given the impending no-deal Brexit. But understandable. The UK can't do it alone and they're not going to ask the U.S.

YOU broke it, YOU fix it.

The captain of the British tanker was a fool to ever give permission, or to let the Iranians on his vessel.

And the British navy in the area was negligent in not IMMEDIATELY ordering a DIRECT MILITARY ACTION to IMMEDIATELY retake the ship.

The crew was entirely foreign. Some of them are Russian I believe. If they killed Russians, the latter would have gone apeshit. They don’t fuck around with foreign governments who murder their citizens.

"European-led naval mission..."

A couple of frigates, maybe a corvette or two?

Germany - 10 frigates,
France - 10 destroyers, 11 frigates,
Britain - 6 destroyers, 13 frigates,
Netherlands - 6 frigates,
you get the drift....

Europe only leads in oppressing it people and capitulating to Moslem invasion. Perhaps Britain is attempting to illustrate this?

And Great Britain used to rule the seas two centuries ago.

I guess the rum and different sexes in the CIC had something to do with the decline.

The Brit Naval commander was a wimpy coward. He should have attacked the Irnians...... that is his job

He failed absolutely.

Times change - the UK ruled the seas from about mid-1700 until the mid-1900s. Then the USA took over

Prior to that - from the 1480s to the 1740s you had Spain as the dominant sea power. And look at them now

Times change

This is the same EU that came up with INSTEX in order to get around US sanctions on Iran.

The EU is in bed with the mullahs.

The EU has chosen Iran over America. The EU is about the Iranian treaty as Democrats are about Russia collabaration. They are beating a dead horse

Germany is leading Europe to destruction.

The UK must decide........ America or Iran?

Bestimmt night der Deutsche Kriegsmarine. Ihre Schiffe sind nicht seetuchtig - und zweiffellos nicht einsatzbereit.
