Math equity doesnt mean 1 + 1 = 2.
The term refers to the growing insistence among educators that teaching math in the classroom comes with some inherently biased methodology that must be addressed.
Proponents of math equity also stress the importance of social justice issues such as race, diversity and gender in math education a trend thats catching on.
More professors and educators are tweeting under the hashtag #MathEquity to share strategies on the topic, and webinars and other pedagogical sessions on it abound.

You could do pretty well that way.
It didn’t used to be, but it sure is now.
The problem with math is that it disrespects consensus. Plus, it often gives us unacceptable answers. Math is too rigid.
What we need is common-sense math. Pi = 3 is good enough for most purposes.
Who you callin’ a homo, sucka?
The Left is downright dangerous.
Now they’re actually trying to politicize math.
Next they will outlaw closed toe shoes and require flipflops and open toe sandals like all the millenials wear so it’s easier for them to count past 10.
True story.
A young single mother in the ‘hood asked me for a ride to the Quickie Chek-Mart so she could cash her $500 welfare check.
I waited in the car. She returned with $450 cash, counted it & complained the cashier had overcharged her on the cashing fee. She intended to go back & “whup” the cashier.
I pointed to the large window sign that said 10% fee.
She did not understand the difference between $10 and 10% of $500, and remained obstinate even as I explained it to her.
Then I asked her, why she didn’t just open a FREE checking account at my bank.
She didnt understand how checking accounts work & didnt want me to teach her how to write checks & subtract from the balance.
I explained that as long as you don’t overdraft the account, it’s free, but NSF penalty is $28.
“Hah! That’s how they do to black peoples,” she maintained, despite my assurances that the same benefits/ penalties apply to everyone, without regard to race.
No dice. She’d rather pay $50 to the Quickie Mart.
“I ain’t gonna do all dat white stuff,” she said.
This was but one of many learning experiences for me, a former liberal.
But-but- people of color want a bigger piece of ... pi.
