Former US defense official: We know UFOs are real - here's why that's concerning

After a bombshell report detailing near-daily interactions with unidentified flying objects by Navy pilots in 2014 and 2015, Christopher Mellon has argued that this information is nothing new, and the government needs to do something about it.

Mellon, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Intelligence, is involved with a new History Channel series, 'Unidentified,' which will expand on topics discussed in a recent New York Times article. In numerous interviews, Navy pilots revealed that they saw UFOs moving at hypersonic speeds, performing acts “beyond the physical limits of a human crew,” and emitting "no visible engine or infrared exhaust plumes."

In a Wednesday morning interview with "Fox & Friends," Mellon, who has written extensively on the topic before, outlined the reasons the Navy is concerned about these sightings.

It is my opinion that these Navy pilots are seeing spacecraft from a highly advanced civilization. But not necessarily an extra-terrestrial civilization.

These craft could be the technology of a highly developed intra-terrestrial civilization that has been on earth tens of thousands of years, and what is being seen as ET spacecraft is really their technology evolved to such a degree that we just think is ET.

They have evolved in ways that we can not yet understand, adapted to living in earthly environments that provide them protection from ignorant invasive surface humans.

There have been many reports of seeing unknown craft entering or emerging from various bodies of water without seeing any evidence of harm to the craft.

Think of all the ancient monuments that modern abilities would find impossible to construct today.

Perhaps we are not the only intelligent beings on earth, just that we are the less intelligent co-inhabitant of earth.

Have a good day now.

There isn’t any evidence to support that view.

Earth is a zoo with that holds an extremely dangerous and hateful species. A quick look is entertaining. It would be like dropping in on one of those reptile farms on the way to Walt Disney World. (The latter causing cold chills.)

...and maybe even other people from out in the stars whom God also created...

I'm am always amazed that so many people think they have the jurisdiction to set the boundaries on the scope of God's Creation.

If you think you’re getting legitimate News or science on the History Channel, well, there’s not much to be said.

Never said they were. But this DoD official wants to be taken seriously when he’s selling his name to The History Channel’s latest attempt to convince us that the answer to all unknown phenomena is “Aliens”? What’s next? Hillary flaking her expertise on Libya on The Travel Channel?

“Earth is a zoo with that holds an extremely dangerous and hateful species. A quick look is entertaining. It would be like dropping in on one of those reptile farms on the way to Walt Disney World. (The latter causing cold chills.)”

I tend to lean toward thrill-seekers, as well.

Or a desperate remnant of a dying/dead civilization that, while advanced, is in dire straights and decided it was better to hide than contact.

They’re throwing the kitchen sink at us. (Distraction) Whatever they’re afraid of, it must be big. This summer is going to be fun

They’ve been terrified ever since Armstrong landed p\on the moon.

Actual objects that are flying while unidentified are indeed real UFOs.

We are not alone, our creator is always with us, but we are as unique as a snowflake and there are no others like us. Life may certainly exist on other worlds, but think of all the tens of millions of species that have existed on earth... How many of them have been self aware? One and only one and the idea that there is anywhere else like earth in the universe is not only unreasonable... It is essentially improbable as much as it is impossible.

If you believe that the world and the people in it are products of Intelligent Design, then your Designer did a pretty shitty job.

I’ve got three crushed discs in my back, since the spine was not “designed” to be operated in a vertical position. Likewise, my knees and hips are wore down to bone-on-bone because they were not “designed” to support the entire wieght of my body. And who would “design” a creature with an endoskeleton, and then allow something like arthritis to exist? That’s like Chevy including free rust on every new car.

Why would you “design” teeth to fall out? Or cataracts? Or even toenail fungus?

If a first-year engineering student turned in a design as flawed as a human being, they would not only fail the course, they would probably be asked to leave the school, for being too stupid to ever complete the course.

I find it easier to accept the possibility of travelers from another planet, (or dimension, the future, etc.) than the idea of a supposed omnipotent being, who has the power to create the world and everything in it, but still did such a poor job of it.

I am sorry that you suffer. Ailments and imperfections are all around, yet the miracle of life overshadows all of this. You can spend your life complaining, or you can look at what you have been given, as apposed to what you feel you have not been given.

Lots of Biblical advice and wisdom on the subject of glass half full vs half empty, and God’s real challenge to us as his children being about how we handle the journey, not the destination. I don’t try to proselytize and I am the least qualified to do so, but despite your posted complaints, things could have turned out worse. You wake up every day. What you make of that day is up to you, regardless of your religious belief.

Best regards

Genesis is my favorite subject.

There's always a beginning to everything (except God, of course) and if we ask the right questions we CAN get to the point of why one got out of bed in the first place.

If only he'd'a hit the snooze button.
