Mike Flynn Unexpectedly Seeks Delay in Sentencing
WSJ ^ | 12/18/2018 | Byron Tau

A federal judge lambasted former national security adviser Mike Flynn in court Tuesday, threatening to upend a proposed agreement between him and prosecutors that he should receive a lenient sentence after his extensive cooperation with investigators.

“I’m not hiding my disgust—my disdain—for this criminal offense,” said U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan. He questioned whether Mr. Flynn had truly accepted responsibility for his crimes, including lying to FBI agents, and suggested he might require incarceration, despite prosecutors’ contention that Mr. Flynn deserves no jail time.

Judge Sullivan seemed especially troubled by Mr. Flynn’s lobbying work for Turkish interests and his attempts to undermine the foreign policy of the Obama administration during the weeks between Election Day 2016 and President Trump’s inauguration. Mr. Flynn wasn’t charged with crimes for those actions.

“All along, you were an unregistered agent of a foreign country while serving as the national security adviser to the president of the United States,” said Judge Sullivan, who was appointed by President Clinton and has a history of expressing himself vividly in court. “Arguably that undermines everything this flag over here stands for. Arguably you sold your country out.”

Swamp people must protect other swamp people. The judge knows the game, and it ain’t justice.

Mueller will end up with a congressional medal of some sort. Bank on it.

I used to worry what kind of life we would leave behind for our children, but now I fear it’s going to affect me far earlier than expected.

><

Same here; and they will show us no mercy if they are able.

If I was Flynn I wouldn't bank on a pardon.

If nothing else, I'd be walking around right now with a sense that I had betrayed Trump.

Just think about it: Flynn was part of Donald Trump's very close inner circle during the 2016 campaign -- and it turns out he was working as a lobbyist for a foreign government while this was all going on?

Sullivan will not move one inch against Mueller on his own.

He practically begged Flynn's legal team with withdraw the guilty plea so action could properly be taken against Mueller during the course of a contested legal proceeding.

Look on the bright side: anyone facing Muller watching this will say “Mueller says if I cooperate I’ll get off easy but Flynn cooperated and he’s now being accused of being a traitor and having the book thrown at him”. Cooperate? Seems like there isn’t much upside, is there?

Damage done already. Judge is playing ball with Special counsel. Flynn is kinda stuck. Branded with Treason today so the MSM can have a field day. They Judges apology was written in the sand.

I think the judge was doing this to kick the can down the road. Just because he lambasts Flynn does not mean he really means it. He play acted for the TV. If there was a real crime or real intent, why didn’t the judge sentence today.

I beleive the judge knows there is no basis for this, and knows it will be kicked out by a higher court, so he kicks the can down the road, and Mueller can drop it once it it out of the public and MSM eye.

The MSM got what they wanted, headlines, Mueller got what they kind of wanted, a scalp, and Flynn got what he probably wants, no jail time. The only people who didn’t get what they wanted is the public. There is no truth here.

Where has that been proven?

“I’m not hiding my disgust—my disdain—for this criminal offense

I agree, but the criminal offenses were committed by Comey, Mueller, Klinton, Soetoro, et al.

The quotes used by WSJ are the ones the judge apologized for. Oy.

As the judge directly asked Mueller “has anyone every been convicted of violating that law? Ever?”

Nope.

Judge Emmet Sullivan, a veteran of the bench who received his judicial appointments from Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton, admonished Flynn at a hearing on Tuesday in Washington, D.C., for lying to the FBI, which he said was made worse because of where it occurred.

That's exactly what the Mueller case against the lobbyists for Turkey -- where Flynn agreed to become a cooperating witness in exchange for no prosecution -- is all about.

As I posted on another thread ...

Flynn was apparently paid $25,000 (based on what another Freeper posted on a different thread yesterday) to write this article on behalf of the Erdogan regime in Turkey:

Our Ally Turkey is in Crisis and Needs Our Support

It was published on ELECTION DAY in 2016.

Either this guy was an Obama mole in the Trump campaign, or he is one of the dumbest f#%&ers ever to wear a U.S. military uniform.

Flynn has been bankrupted. He had to sell his house to pay his legal fees leading up to his guilty plea.

A private citizen has no chance against the full weight of the government. Do not judge General Flynn on this. There are a lot of things he is due criticism on, but this is not one of them.
