A married mother of two and meteorologist for Fox 2 Detroit died by suicide, the station said Thursday.
Jessica Starr, 35, who lived in Novi, Michigan, is survived by her husband, Dan, and her two children, a 5-year-old son named Noah, and a 3-year-old daughter named Riley, the Springfield News-Sun reported. The station did not provide more details about her death.

Prior to her death, Starr spoke out publicly about her recovery from Lasik surgery, which she had done in October. She was out of work for several weeks and struggled with dry eye following the procedure, reported the Detroit Free Press.
Starr posted a video on her Facebook page on Nov. 13 explaining her absence. She announced that she was back at work but still in the recovery process and dealing with blurry vision.

Friend of mine is a fire chief. He said the Holidays is the biggest time of year for suicides. Especially men. For some reason the holidays causes deep depression because of past failures. Divorce, etc
....had lunch with long time friend just today. I asked him why his right eye was bloodshot (although I was sure I knew why). He mumbled “lasik surgery”.
I warned him when he got it a couple years back. But, he wouldn’t listen!
He tried to get me to do it. My response was something like....”ain’t no way I’m gonna let some quack doctor, trying to increase his cash flow, take what amounts to a welding rod to my eye”!

I agree. There must be more to the story. This is a very sad situation.
I had lasik. I am very, very glad I did. I’ve had no problems at all.
I had a close friend develop severe visual blurring
from a LASIK procedure, and went suicidal.
After failing treatment with medicines,
he underwent ECT and eventually got his act back together.
The fear of going blind can be VERY real
My late wife was 34 years old, an excellent nurse, beautiful, outgoing and vivacious, and was loved by everyone. Her suicide left everyone looking for a reason which led to many cruel accusations and conclusions. If she was bipolar and the stress of the surgery caused it to surface it would give a plausible explanation for the act.
Probably put on psych meds. They prescribe them like candy.
Deciding on Lasik surgery is an example to teach young people: the time to be pessimistic about something is when the cost of failure is high. A 1 in 20 chance of damaging your eyesight is a bad bet. People that have Lasik done eventually need glasses again anyway so why bother.
Just three days ago a 33 year old Dad took his own life in Redwood City, CA. He left behind a days-old baby!
A teacher at Frank S. Greene Middle School was fatally shot by a police officer in his Redwood City home on Monday, shortly after his wife reported that he was attempting to commit suicide with a butcher knife.Kyle Hart’s wife called police just before 9 a.m. on Monday requesting help for her husband, who had cut himself with the cleaver in an apparent attempt to kill himself, according to a Redwood City Police Department press release.
An officer initially tried to subdue the teacher with a Taser, but when that didn’t work, a second officer opened fire, police said.
Hart, 33, had taught English and social studies at Greene in Palo Alto for three years and was at JLS Middle School for four years before that, according to the school district.
No officers were injured in the tragic incident in the 400 block of Lincoln Avenue. According to the press release, Hart’s wife called police, “frantically requesting help and reporting that her husband was attempting to commit suicide by cutting his throat and wrists,” according to the department’s news release. Several officers went to the home and were met in the front yard by a woman covered in blood, who directed them to the back yard. That’s where they encountered the man, who was carrying a butcher knife, police said. Two of the officers, both described as having undergone crisis-intervention training, tried to convince the man to drop the knife.
The man refused to drop the knife and ran toward the officers, police said, adding that after one officer tried to stop him with a Taser, the other officer, a 20-year police veteran, “was left with no choice but to utilize a firearm to stop the male from advancing.”
The incident occurred in front of Hart’s wife and his two young children, at the home the young family just purchased earlier this year,

My ophthalmologist gave the same advice.
It could have been something as simple (yet potentially devastating) as a hormone imbalance that could have given her suicidal thoughts on a regular basis. Something like that and all it takes is one bad day or weak moment and the person can follow through. Not saying that’s the case, only a possibility.
Sad for Mrs. Starr and all who were affected by her passing.
Possible medication clash.?. Sometimes suicidal thoughts lead to the real thing.
