The "fancy DC restaurant" remains unnamed in every story I've seen so far. Name and shame the place. Who's protecting them ? (rhetorical question) The media won't name the restaurant, thus encouraging more of this behaviour. I want to know.
Once known, we must shout it far and wide.
I never claimed the restaurant was complicit. Nor do I think the maitre de and receptionist could have physically stopped then would have called the Police as soon as the mob stormed in.
I was merely stating the idea that there are people who restrict entry in a up-scale restaurant, you can’t just wander in and go up to a table.

“Well if restaurants that allow these things start going out of business, trust me, theyll find a way.”
So go to war with every restaurant in America, rather than the tiny Leftist organizations that actually do the disruptions.
Because restaurants can’t prevent these kinds of sudden sudden outbursts by members of the public.
I asked what you would do. If you don’t have a solution, you should be boycotted/bankrupted by your own logic.
Would you maintain a squad of riot police on the payroll to respond in seconds, for something that has never occurred before in your restaurant’s history?
Would you authorize initiating physical violence in the first few seconds of any verbal protest? Lawsuits would take the restaurant a few months later.
The whole incident lasted just a few moments, and was peacefully resolved.
What would you do?
“you cant just wander in and go up to a table.”
That implies the restaurant let them. And it is obviously not true.
A group of people can just walk past the people at the door - they did. That is what flash mobs do.
They were asked to leave, and they did not, until after Senator Cruz did.
Not a perfect solution, but here's what I suggest: Place a placard at the entrance to the restaurant that clearly and unequivocally states the following:
1. Entrance to the establishment is by reservation only and/or with the express consent of the management or its designee, and management reserves the right to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law anyone who enters the premises without such reservation or consent or remains in the premises when asked by management to leave.
2. For the protection and safety of all our customers, this facility under video surveillance.
All of this, however, is totally worthless unless the business prosecutes. If it doesn't, then the business loses the presumption of innocent in the court of public perception.
The targets of these flash attacks also need to take personal responsibility and stand up to these thugs. I don't mean a physical response, but hold the ground and refuse move until LEO arrives. These thugs are not going to physically harm anyone with witnesses and camera anywhere. Stay seated, call 911, and hold your ground.
Italian cuisine.
“here’s what I suggest: Place a placard at the entrance”
They violated the verbal commands, why not a placard?
Not sure about DC, but in many states a “posted” placard is required to support a trespass charge. From what I understand, it is more difficult to prosecute a person for trespass who lawfully entered the premises, but refuses to leave, than it is to prosecute someone who unlawfully entered the premises in the first instant.
That is why the cops should have been called immediately.
When is the mob going to raid restaurants and just destroy everything it can. Stick it to the wealthy.
According to that article the police WERE called as per the restaurant’s policy.
