In a Wednesday appearance at George Washington University Law School, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg lamented the degree to which partisanship has infected the judicial-confirmation process, calling Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanuaghs recent confirmation hearing a highly partisan show.
Contrasting Kavanaughs hearings last week with her own, which occurred in 1993, Ginsburg called the partisan grandstanding of Democrats wrong and expressed a desire to return a spirit of collegiality to the process.
The way it was was right. The way it is is wrong, Ginsburg said to applause. The atmosphere in 93 was truly bipartisan. The vote on my confirmation was 96 to three, even though I had spent about ten years of my life litigating cases under the auspices of the ACLU and I was on the ACLU board. . . . Thats the way it should be, instead of what its become, which is a highly partisan show. The Republicans move in lock step, so do the Democrats. I wish I could wave a magic wand and have it go back to the way it was.

“Ruth Bader Ginsburg Calls Kavanaugh Hearings a Highly Partisan Show”
My God, she is senile - she actually got something right. Hopefully her family will now ‘intervene’.
I have to agree. She looked pretty bad in that interview.
I feel your pain, man. Been there done that.
Of course what the demented former ACLU lawyer means is 180 degrees opposite of the actual ground truth.
She is right and she is wrong.
It’s always been partisan.
Bork and Thomas hearings were not partisan?...................
I didn’t watch any of them.
And when you die, we get to do it all over again.
I didn’t see RBGs whole speech, but the excerpts are pretty much telling the democrats to STFU.
But as far as “going back to the way things were,” you need to go back farther than her confirmation. You need to go back to before the time of Robert Bork, who was the most qualified jurist nominated in decades. But he was shot down not on his qualifications, but on his perceived political leanings. Since then, the process has become politicized.
Thanks entirely, 100%, to democrats.
Well, a blind squirrel can find a nut! I thought that was just a saying, hmmm
Political pundit / oligarch / Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
I saw the video of that, she looked like she could barely sit up, and her head was practically in her lap, and was barely audible.
Hmmm...... She wore gloves. She wore pants. There was no visible pocket book and she didn’t wear a hat. She didn’t wear her neck brace.
We must conclude that the reason for the gloves was to mask a skin disease.
First thing I can recall her ever saying that was correct
Shocking
She must be near death to say something that’s accurate

To this day, Ruthie, I have a vitriolic hatred for the GOPe for giving you their confirmation vote. A Capo Communist should have never been allowed on the SCOTUS. You have attempted to turn the SCOTUS into an unelected “legislature” to “enact laws” you and your RAT Commie pals couldn’t do via the normal legislative process. My hope is that your 24 hour quickie Capo funeral is not very far into the future, because we need your seat returned to a Christian who believes in the Constitution and the rule of law.

Its always been partisan.
Bork and Thomas hearings were not partisan?-—
She means HERS wasn’t partisan, because when a Dem president nominates for the Court, the GOP follows the rules and may even vote for that person.
The reverse is partisan because the Dems don’t care how low they go, or how dirty and gutterish they look while doing it.
Yes, she did look extremely frail. Obviously not physically up to the demands of a job on the USSC. But she’ll never resign.
Justice Ginsburg is functioning at about 10% mental alacrity. It was really sad watching her in that video.
If the dems had any mercy or compassion in their souls, which we know they do not, they would ask her to step down and enjoy her few remaining lucid days without turning herself into some horrid sideshow.
The Republicans tend to support the nominee of both Republican and Democrat presidents. Democrats are the only ones being thoroughly partisan and biased.
