White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders ripped the anonymous senior White House staffer who wrote an op-ed for the New York Times slamming President Trumps conduct.
The individual behind this piece has chosen to deceive, rather than support, the duly elected President of the United States, she said in a statement. He is not putting country first, but putting himself and his ego ahead of the will of the American people.
This coward should do the right thing and resign, she added.
The statement follows criticism from Trump himself, who called the op-eds author gutless.
The author of the op-ed wrote that there are multiple people in the administration who are acting as a check on the presidents misguided impulses.
We want the administration to succeed and think that many of its policies have already made America safer and more prosperous. But we believe our first duty is to this country, and the president continues to act in a manner that is detrimental to the health of our republic. That is why many Trump appointees have vowed to do what we can to preserve our democratic institutions while thwarting Mr. Trumps more misguided impulses until he is out of office, the staffer writes.
The White House aide says meetings with Trump often veer off topic and off the rails and slams the president as amoral.
The root of the problem is the presidents amorality. Anyone who works with him knows he is not moored to any discernible first principles that guide his decision making, the staffer says.
Any successes from the White House have come despite not because of the presidents leadership style, which is impetuous, adversarial, petty and ineffective, the author wrote.
he adds.
Sanders statement also issued a defense of the president.
President Trump has laid out a bold and ambitious agenda. Every day since taking office, he has fulfilled the promises he made. His accomplishments in less than two years have been astounding, she said.
The Trump administration has repeatedly railed against The New York Times, slamming it as fake news and labeling it the failing New York Times.
We are disappointed, but not surprised, that the paper chose to publish this pathetic, reckless and selfish op-ed. This is a new low for the so-called paper of record, and it should issue an apology
This is just another example of the liberal medias concerted effort to discredit the president, Sanders said.
Gaslighting
Why would Kellyanne quit?
MAKE IT RAIN NOW
The Slimes coulda easily faked it.
They need to prove that they didn’t.
This reads exactly like Woodward’s book. Probably a chapter his publishers felt couldn’t be published.
A Deep State Obamite holdover or a Never Trumper turncoat?
Looks like it.
[ This anonymous coward should have the guts to step forward and resign and the NYT truly are slimes for printing it. ]
True, unless this is a liberal / leftist / Deep State psyops hit piece to try and portray “chaos” inside the Trump White House just prior to the midterms.
Which is my bet.
And where better to plant such a psyop hit piece than The New York Times? Or the Washington Compost? They’ll probably have the next “insider” hit piece.
Any successes from the White House have come despite not because of the presidents leadership style, which is impetuous, adversarial, petty and ineffective,
Really? So where were you guys during the Bush monarchy, Clinton, Obama? Trump takes office and gee whiz, suddenly unemployment sets record lows, economy record highs, North Korea no longer threatening us after just a meeting. Why couldn’t Bush 1&2, Clinton and Obama do that in the past 30 years? All of a sudden it’s these “anonymous people” who are doing this? Get the F outta here.
When did anonymous sources become journalism?
Who is the coward, The Recuser?
Not that I believe anything the NY Slimes prints, but if it is for real who do you think it is? Sessions? Sounds like it to me.
I think it is a fake plant to instill doubt in Trump’s mind about people around him
How do we know he’s a he?
I am surprised they are buying it. It seems fake to me.
I’d be surprised if it was not some liberal jerk at the NYT sitting at his desk making the whole thing up just to cause a stir, which is the liberal way.
Lately we’ve seen multiple examples of causing a stir from them. The Kavanaugh hearings are a prime example.
Yeah, I would expect this to be crafted more likely with the help of Bernstein and/or Woodward.
The pro-McCain thing matches all the Democrat talking points from the past few days when they had their hate-fest on the President.
check on the presidents misguided impulses.
Prey tell a short list please.
Probably Jared. Never trust someone who is constantly smirking.
How could anyone say Trump is not guided by any discernible principles? He’s been dating the same things for 30 years seems hiit’s policies have been consistent since day one.
