One disastrous tweet has finally revealed Elon Musk for what he is: a fraud.
Enraged that a British cave diver called his idea to rescue the Thai soccer team for what it was a p.r. stunt [with] absolutely no chance of working Musk took to Twitter and called him a pedo.
Just like that, Teslas market value plummeted by $2 billion.

He is human and he has a big ego. And it was ridiculously stupid comment he made.
But a lot of people are envious of him and want him to fail. So I take criticisms against him with a grain of salt.
It was a stupid idea with no chance of working, and the fact that he would even suggest such a thing puts in question his ability as an engineer, his judgment, and his intelligence.
You don’t want a guy running a multi-billion dollar company who is subject to the Dunning Kruger Effect.
But a lot of people are envious of him and want him to fail. So I take criticisms against him with a grain of salt.

Musk’s company’s don’t buy adverting, so there is that reason for the press hating him.
FWIW, Trump didn’t like to buy advertising and would often go for free publicity instead.

The system used to rescue the boys was just like the SpaceX idea, but without the enclosure.
Same here. We need people like him, warts and all. Who else has the guts to try for the impossible. As much as I don't like electric cars (because I believe gasoline-fueled cars are a proven technology), people do love their Teslas, and it has glowing reviews versus the crappy electrics other makers offer. So more power to him, and I hope he succeeds where others fail.
All true, except Musk is not an engineer.
Musk is no fraud.
Hes just unusual
I agree. Let the good, be good. We will work the rest out later. New stuff helps.
I think he’s going the path of Howard Hughes. In the end, he will retreat back. The Tesla idea is probably a decade ahead of it’s time.
Do you also enjoy govt cronies who sup at the federal trough? Because that is Elin through and through
Not a big fan of musk but he’s accomplished more with his rockets than most of us could ever dream of
People with big egos often produce amazing and innovative things and accomplish incredible goals that people with normal sized egos have no drive for nor does the normal or average person have the confidence and deep urge to fulfill their outsized 'destiny' or vision.
I think Musk is Musk--the good, the bad, the ugly, and the amazing. Most brilliant people close up are a hand full in someway. Ask his ex wives. ;D lol.
I wonder what would have happened if they tried to use Musk’s “submarine”, and it had gotten stuck in the cave passage.
At best, that would have delayed getting those kids out. At worst, some or all of them could have died.
Not sure how anyone can forgive a “pedo” claim made without merit.
In addition to showing that thoughtful risk taking while sharing ASMEs vision of applying engineering knowledge for improving the quality of life, Musk illustrates that an engineers work and business know-how can lead to amazing results. Musk also embodies the kind of engineering leadership that is needed as organizations, industry, and governments work together to tackle the interrelated issues of energy, climate, and poverty. For the early career engineer to grow into their roles as our next generation of leaders tackling these issues, we are fortunate to have innovative role models like Elon Musk.

What a joke of an article.
SpaceX has single handedly captured half of the global commercial satellite business for the United States. Prior to SpaceX, the USA was a non-factor in the industry.
The woman who wrote this is embarrassingly ignorant.
satellite-launching business
Absolutely not. But they're a necessary evil for progress. The railroad barons of the 19th century made big things happen, they opened the American West (while enriching themselves on the government teat). Same for ship builders, military industrial complex, space travel, etc. You think all these great builders were goody through and through? Nope. Thomas Edison was a crook. Nicolas Tesla tried to be a good guy and got no where. Sometimes people with big ideas go begging governments for a handout to make their big ideas happen (like Christopher Columbus seeking the New World but with other people's money). It is what it is.
