He is human and he has a big ego. And it was ridiculously stupid comment he made.

But a lot of people are envious of him and want him to fail. So I take criticisms against him with a grain of salt.

It was a stupid idea with no chance of working, and the fact that he would even suggest such a thing puts in question his ability as an engineer, his judgment, and his intelligence.

You don’t want a guy running a multi-billion dollar company who is subject to the Dunning Kruger Effect.

He made that happen; NASA did not.

Enraged that a British cave diver called his idea to rescue the Thai soccer team for what it was — “a p.r. stunt [with] absolutely no chance of working”

...

The system used to rescue the boys was just like the SpaceX idea, but without the enclosure.

Musk is no fraud.

He’s just unusual

Normal people often do normal things. Extraordinary people can do extraordinary things. Extraordinary people are often very different than 'normal' and thus their impact with the extraordinary.

People with big egos often produce amazing and innovative things and accomplish incredible goals that people with normal sized egos have no drive for nor does the normal or average person have the confidence and deep urge to fulfill their outsized 'destiny' or vision.

I think Musk is Musk--the good, the bad, the ugly, and the amazing. Most brilliant people close up are a hand full in someway. Ask his ex wives. ;D lol.

I wonder what would have happened if they tried to use Musk’s “submarine”, and it had gotten stuck in the cave passage.

At best, that would have delayed getting those kids out. At worst, some or all of them could have died.

Not sure how anyone can forgive a “pedo” claim made without merit.

SpaceX — which Musk touts as replacing NASA and colonizing Mars — has been a literal failure to launch. So many of its rockets have burned up or crashed that Musk, for reasons unknown, has made a blooper reel.

What a joke of an article.

SpaceX has single handedly captured half of the global commercial satellite business for the United States. Prior to SpaceX, the USA was a non-factor in the industry.

The woman who wrote this is embarrassingly ignorant.

He should have stuck with rockets - those are working, and working really well. Building cars is not something done on a whim, and building electric cars before the technology is safe and practical simply cannot be done on any scale. Sure, you can build ‘talking points’ for the uber-wealthy so they can walk around with their noses pointing straight up at their ‘socials’ and put down others who are subsidizing the oil fields of Texas, but that’s about the limit to their practicality.

He says stupid stuff in twitter, but the rockets work and are highly successful, so he can’t be a total fraud.

The subsidies are being taken away in Ontario, Canada’s biggest province and when you stop passing out a $14,000 cash back to Tesla buyers, electric car sales tumble. Same thing stateside. There will always be electric cars around for the rich and famous to purchase, but the general public is becoming sick and tired of paying out their tax dollars to subsidize a losing proposition.

Gas guzzling automobiles will be the norm for many generations to come... And self driving cars... That’s a fantasy that’s really a nightmare, more than a dream.

I don’t even let other people behind the wheel when I’m in a car, so it will be a very cold day in hell before I get in a vehicle that’s driving without me behind the wheel.

Am I in an alternative universe. Musk and Tesla exist in the Obama universe of economics and science. The technology of operating advanced machinery with stored energy is advanced now, but to expense.

There is no after market for these cars because the teplacement bstteries are 20 to 40000k

Things he’s pushing mot related to cars. Traveling to other planets, massive tunnel boring machine, not a flame thrower flame thrower, etc.

He’s a con building fancy golf carts for the rich and enviromentally challenged.

While selling trips to Mars.

I've always been suspicious of Musk since the beginning.

He's built much of his shaky empire using tax subsidies provided by the Government.

My intuition says "don't trust him."

I think lots of people here went off into the weeds on this article and reflexively recycled old arguments.

This is a ridiculously inaccurate article, but my question is, why now? Elon Musk has jumped the shark, and is in the process of becoming a non-person. Either it was his past quarter's Tesla stockholder's conference call, his calling the Thai seal a pedo, or because it has been revealed that he has donated money to republican candidates.
