What Might Civil War Be Like?
American Thinker ^ | December 20, 2017 | E.M. Cadwaladr

The thought of Civil War has been in the minds of many people lately, on both sides of the political and cultural divide. This is not a thing to be wished for, though no one should kid themselves into believing it’s impossible either. Let us take a sober look at what such a conflict might entail.

To begin with, it would not look like the first American Civil War, which was essentially a war between two regions of the country with different economic interests. The divide created two separate countries, both initially contiguous, intact, and relatively homogeneous. The lines of demarcation now are only somewhat regional, and tend to correspond to differences between urban and rural populations, as well as differences of race and class.

"Shooting ugly idiots with blue helmets!"

That is the thing, isn't it? They won't leave this as an intramural fight between ourselves. Foreign mercenaries wearing blue helmets will be poured into the fight.

That was another invasion by Islam. Islam invaded Europe many times.

in 732 A.D. no army lay between Islam and western Europe except 1 that of Charles Martel.

Islam had already conquered an empire larger than the Roman Empire using their army on horseback: One man Martel saved Europe , Christianity and civilization:

Islam conquered most of the Middle East and North Africa and then came across the Straights of Gibraltar and conquered Spain, subjugating the people under Islamic rule, giving the European (mostly Christian and Jewish) people the choice of conversion to Islam or perpetual underling status burdened with a tax on non-Muslims (vital funds Muslims used to finance further conquests).

Islamic armies moved north into what is now France (known as Gaul at the time). That was the high-water mark of Islam’s first major invasion of Europe, because it was there they were stopped.

After several large battles, the Islamic hordes were defeated by an army led by Charles Martel, who came to be known as Charles the Hammer. The final and decisive battle occurred on October 11th, 732, one hundred years after the death of Mohammad....

I wonder why government schools never teach this? Democrats are the enemy

This isn’t simply a North vs. South conflict. I think the factions would not be as easily clear cut. Pat Buchanan described this country as being Balkanized, and if that is the case, I think the War would be a lot like those wars, and will be a series of Wars rather than just one all out war.

I had gotten that from this 1998 piece which had been posted here back then - The Muslim Advance and American Collaboration

"In the sweep of the long history of the Islamic assault on the Christian world, it is sobering to consider how close the latter has come to annihilation on more than one occasion. In the initial offensive during the first decade after Muhammad's demise, Christendom lost its birthplace in the Levant, with the front of the East Roman Empire only being stabilized at the approaches to Asia Minor. Meanwhile, the Arab armies swept west from conquered Egypt, subduing the whole north coast of Africa and crossing into Visigothic Spain in 711. They were finally stopped by the Franks under Karl the Hammer at Poitiers in 732, the centenary of the pseudo-Prophet's death. The conversion of the Turkish tribes to Islam in the 9th century lent jihad renewed impetus; the erosion and final collapse of East Roman power opened the eastern door to Europe in the 14th century, and the Ottomans were turned back only at the gates of Vienna in 1683. The site of the first high water mark at Poitiers and the later one at Vienna are only some 700 miles apart - so narrow has been Christendom's brush with extinction!"

I recall handing out copies of that to coworkers and often wonder how they think now...back then they thought I was completely nuts to think muslims would be interested in a 2nd caliphate. And said so.

I suspect the truth of such a conflict would more approximate the outcome of the Nika riots.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nika_riots

In those days, sports clubs had a strong political element, and the major ones were affiliated with a particular color, white, red, blue and green.

For the purposes of comparison, think of the whites as the real right wing extremists. Inconsequential then as now.

The reds would be the conservatives. At the time of the riots, mostly out of power.

The blues would be the liberal Democrats, more numerous and less radical. And,

The greens, the hardcore radical leftists.

Think of these groups back then as now as you read of the riots, and their outcome. Think of the Hippodrome as like the Democratic National Convention.

Based on this model, the Second American Civil War would be rather short-lived.

And this is fascinating because of the huge part the media played beforehand.

“The Cleansing, when it comes, will be Old Testament in scope and nature.”

Yes it will. Very few people have thought it through, what it will take, and how we will be changed.

Neither pretty, pleasant, nor over by Christmas.

“I think the people will get sick of the Federal Leviathan and just leave the union. It is the simplest solution.”

Something like the collapse of the Soviet Union and the authority of the CPUSSR. Not unlikely, but that still does not solve the culture war which is driving an additional crisis, aside from that of a corrupt and necrotic, oppressive government. The two issues overlap in areas, but they are different issues.

...blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimmage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet!

That would do quite nicely, thank you.

Sadly, Civil War II is unlikely to end in utter victory for either side, but settle down into an armed standoff lasting until everyone left is too exhausted to fight.

Nonsense. The only reason we have our current level of fractiousness is because “progressives” don’t have to risk their lives and livelihoods propagating their “ideals.”

They’re perfectly willing to put cops and soldiers in harms way to defend gay wedding cakes, but do you think THEY would risk a bullet for such a notion.

Indeed, the whole reason “ black block” militants covered their faces, as opposed to Trump supporters who didn’t, is their reticence to actually SUFFER for their “ cause.”

Well, this is the point of the DJT election. To MAGA in order to avoid such an outcome. I didn’t actually consider the ramifications economically until I read this article. It would not be fun - unless you are already on of those “off the grid” types.

The urban allied centers would be very isolated from one another. For instance Dallas would probably be part of the urban liberal holdings, while the rest of Texas will go rural. Likely the West half of California, Oregon and WA teamed up with Dallas, Chicago, New York, New Jersey and New England.

The real question is what happens with military assets. The liberals will likely retain all the launch codes. Soldiers in the end, are not politicians and are order takers. So I am not confident that many if any would come on over to help the rural confederacy.

I don’t think so.

The left has been successful at tearing down the right because the right passively accepted such treatment.

We’re not doing that anymore.

Without our cooperation, they can accomplish nothing that isn’t “intellectual.” Intellectual as defined by the late Robert Bork, that is; it’s not that these people are very “smart,” it’s that they make their living using words, pictures, and experiences, rather than create tangible assets.

They are the “leisure class” who exist by the bountiful overflow our diligence creates.

Blow the power grid, blow the water lines, blow any fuel supplies coming into the city. Blow rails, blow bridges.

Create a nearly impenetrable blockade then cut power and take out the sewage treatment plants. In less than a month they will be mostly dead from disease.

My only concern would be the large army base just down the road.

Which Army base are you alluding to? Also, by my calculation, about 70% of our military will be conservative and side with us. There are other good things I would like to tell you about within our military but there are many trolls and enemy reading FR.
