White House press secretary Sarah Sanders isn't a big fan of the media.
Which is, of course, her right.
The relationship between any White House and any press corps tasked with covering that White House is almost always fraught and fractious.
But, on Monday, Sanders made an accusation that went way, way beyond the pale of the usual give and take between White House and press corps. Here's what she said:
"There's a very big difference between making honest mistakes and purposefully misleading the American people. Something that happens regularly. You can't say -- I'm not done. You can't say that it's an honest mistake when you are purposely putting out information that you know to be false or when you're taking information that hasn't been validated, that hasn't been offered any credibility and that has been continually denied by a number of people including people with direct knowledge of an incident. This is something that -- I'm speaking about the number of reports that have taken place over the last couple of weeks. I'm simply stating that there should be a certain level of responsibility in that process."
Yes, there is a big difference between honest mistakes and purposely misleading people by reporting information that you know to be false. But, there's absolutely zero evidence -- cited by Sanders or anyone else in the Trump administration -- that any reporter covering the Trump White House has published something they knew to be false. Not any.

And Jim Acosta need to be FIRED! That jerk is the most rude s.o.b. pretending to be a reporter I have ever seen.
—
Absolutely. Is he still allowed in the White House press briefings? I would make a rule that if you’re rude, you’re gone. If your replacement from the same network is also rude, the network is gone. These people are so arrogant they can’t even stand to be criticized.
I know it wasn’t CNN but the reporter who posted the empty venue picture knew exactly what he was doing.
Eloquently and truthfully stated by Sarah (as usual).
Sure, Chris. The DNC Media runs fake article after fake article smearing the President, but it’s outrageous not to pretend these are honest mistakes.
She did not make a mistake.
Since CNN didn't offer any real explanation, just said they hadn't seen the email themselves, but had spoken with someone who had (and that's allegedly had, until you've seen it yourself) -- and since it was picked up verbatim by other networks, it just means that the DNC was behind the whole thing, or that CNN made the whole thing up, or (this is door #3) is so grossly incompetent that it will spit out fake news. Thanks Zakeet.
What she said was not offensive in the slightest.
Yep. They are claiming they are not malicious. Just incompetent.
Now back to the top news of the hour... just how many diet cokes does Trump drink every day? And why it matters!
So did the 4 networks who published the Wikileaks lie about DJT Jr.
Plausible deniability gets weaker the more its used, and at this point CNNs is pretty much preposterous.
She did great today. I have really come to admire her after being not to sure at first.
Boss lady.
Shut the new conferences down.
Nobody gets madder than a liar being called a liar. Try it on FR sometime.
Ouch...that's gonna leave a mark. Well done!
CNN is the network of blithering idiots, that’s for sure.
They just don’t know when to let it rest, and start doing their work the right way.
This isn’t winning them points. It’s losing them more ground.
As the old saying goes, stop shoveling CNN.
But, there’s absolutely zero evidence — cited by Sanders or anyone else in the Trump administration — that any reporter covering the Trump White House has published something they knew to be false. Not any.

Then they are just incompetent and should not have a news division until they can accurately report the news.
Excuse me.... Several news organizations reported that a Swiss bank handed over Trumps financial records because they had been subpoenaed by Mueller. A falsehood that was disputed by the ‘fact’ that they were not subpoenaed. And even after that ‘fact’ had been revealed several news organizations, including CNN, continued to report the story as if it were true... When it was in fact false.
If that is not the very act of misleading viewers, then what would be?
