White House press secretary Sarah Sanders isn't a big fan of the media.
Which is, of course, her right.
The relationship between any White House and any press corps tasked with covering that White House is almost always fraught and fractious.
But, on Monday, Sanders made an accusation that went way, way beyond the pale of the usual give and take between White House and press corps. Here's what she said:
"There's a very big difference between making honest mistakes and purposefully misleading the American people. Something that happens regularly. You can't say -- I'm not done. You can't say that it's an honest mistake when you are purposely putting out information that you know to be false or when you're taking information that hasn't been validated, that hasn't been offered any credibility and that has been continually denied by a number of people including people with direct knowledge of an incident. This is something that -- I'm speaking about the number of reports that have taken place over the last couple of weeks. I'm simply stating that there should be a certain level of responsibility in that process."
Yes, there is a big difference between honest mistakes and purposely misleading people by reporting information that you know to be false. But, there's absolutely zero evidence -- cited by Sanders or anyone else in the Trump administration -- that any reporter covering the Trump White House has published something they knew to be false. Not any.

Cheers!
And Jim Acosta need to be FIRED! That jerk is the most rude s.o.b. pretending to be a reporter I have ever seen. He makes Sam Donaldson look like Miss Manners.
So their defense is that they aren’t lying, they’re just incompetent?
“But, there’s absolutely zero evidence — cited by Sanders or anyone else in the Trump administration — that any reporter covering the Trump White House has published something they knew to be false.”
So you’re saying that accusations without evidence are not to be believed. Right, CNN?
Sarah doesn’t pull any punches and the CNN babies aren’t used to that. I just hope she doesn’t get burned out dealing with their tantrums.
“Sanders made an accusation that went way, way beyond the pale”
Their indignation is hilarious.
Where to start? Which fake news comes to mind first? How about a fake picture representing lack of people at Trump’s Pensacola speech? And, that was just one fake news report from the pile just last week.
Ah, you beat me to it. Their defense is “we’re not lying, we’re just incompetent!”
Whatever she said, it wasn’t offensive enough.
I watched it, it was an epic smackdown. The press conference started with nonstop sex talk then finally someone asked about the terrorist shooting. Then it was constant negativity. Nothing about the record stock market or jobs reports. Just negativity.
And yet they are repeatedly publishing information which is provably false. "Trump had advance info from wikileaks": FALSE. "Mueller has subpoenad Trump's bank records": FALSE. et cetera, et cetera.
So they keep publishing false info over and over. Either they knew it or didn't. If they knew it was false, they are partisan hacks who are nothing but pravda for the democrat party. If they didn't know, they are incompetent of even the most basic functions of journalist, to check your facts. Either scenario is a giant indictment of the media.
She’s not only honest and direct, the talented Ms. Sanders knows how to control things in a room full of bullies.
Other than the reports that they later have to retract or withdraw (e.g. the Flynn reporting), or the endless breathless declarations that THIS TIME, they actually have something that proves Trump/Russia collusion--no, there is not a single time a reporter has knowingly published something false.
Worked when Hillary used it, in reference to her in-home server, which may have been the biggest security leak in the history of the United States.
There is evidence the reporter didn’t want to check if it was false, not that they knew it was false.
Sorry CNN, you’re a disgraceful purveyor of extremely fake news. To say your recent fake news is from “honest mistakes” is laughable. You don’t fool anyone.
