Alabama voters want a candidate who will represent their state with honor -- and they think Doug Jones has strong moral character and Roy Moore doesnt....
Jones is up by eight points over Moore among Alabama likely voters, 50 percent vs. 42 percent, in a Fox News Poll conducted Monday through Wednesday evenings. His lead is outside the polls margin of sampling error (±3.5 percentage points). Nine percent are undecided or plan to vote for someone else.
Alabama voters decide who will fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions in a December 12 special election. Allegations of sexual misconduct against Moore broke November 9. He denies the accusations.
Support from women is the key to the Democrats advantage in this red state, as Jones is their choice by 26 points (58-32 percent). The gap grows to 49 points among women under age 45 (69-20 percent), and hes up by 11 among women ages 45 and over (51-40 percent). Jones even receives 19 percent support from Republican women (to Moores 68 percent).
Moore is preferred among white evangelical Christians by 53 points (73-20 percent), whites by 19 points (56-37 percent), and men by 12 (53-41 percent).
Theres more party loyalty among Democrats, as 91 percent back Jones compared to Moores 78 percent among Republicans.
Some 30 percent of Moores backers say they have some reservations about their candidate, while 19 percent of Joness supporters say the same.
The poll, released Thursday, finds a 15-point gap between the number of Alabama voters who think Jones has strong moral character (56 percent) and those who feel that way about Moore (41 percent). Plus, 85 percent among Democrats think Jones has strong moral character, while just 65 percent of Republicans say the same of Moore.

That should calm down anti-Moore hysteria. For crying out loud this guy has been married to the same woman for 3 decades plus.
Moore’s lawyers thoroughly discredited the yearbook signature. They need to destroy another false accuser. There are four weeks for more of them to come out of the woodwork.
Unfortunately too many older women now see this as a referendum on older men dating younger women. They’ll go piously to the polls and send millions of babies to their deaths and send the Republic to Gehenna, just to make the point that older women have the absolute right to be courted by handsome eligible bachelors.
>That works when you control the outflow of information. Twitter was the most important news platform for Trump during his campaign.
Moore’s big problem is the GOP cut the money off. He can’t get his message out as easily.
This may be the showdown where Trump will be forced out or will simply take control. The Republic is irretrievably over and our practical hopes rest on keeping our guy on the throne. Better an authoritarian dictator then a communist/Moslem killing field.
The key question to ask is:
"Who do you think your next door neighbor would vote for?"
I doubt that this poll is indicative of how people will vote.
At the end of the day, this is a choice the voters of Alabama must make. This was considered a safe conservative vote in the Senate - it’s going to be a disaster if a Democrat takes the seat.
Donald Trump has backed Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore remaining in the election race despite multiple claims of sexual harassment of teenage girls. Mr Trump believes that Alabama should take the decision about their next senator and that Mr Moore should only quit if the allegations are proved.

I will?
Unfortunately, here in the ‘burbs, most of us don’t even KNOW our next-door neighbors, these days.
(I could bet that all of my co-workers would vote Democrat, though :-)
Polls are sometimes right, however, it is statistically by chance!
Funny huh...
The truth is, there is no such thing as an author without bias. This applies especially to polls.
No one in my family was ever polled in our lives, until we moved to the city limits of Detroit years ago. (Of course, we are not there now)
While in Detroit, we were polled 6 times in 10 days.
*What we learned.
- The pollsters were indeed polling at random, but it was random within the 313 area code, meaning the 313 sample was about 90% liberal to left wing Democrat voters.
- Secondly, there was a screen question from every polling group which called, which determined if you were eligible to answer any further questions about candidates or a race. The screen questions were never about residency.
In 3 of the polls, the screen question was - “Are you
for or against abortion?”
In the other 3 polls, (being this was back in the 90’s), the screen question was - “Are you for or against gay marriage?”
As everyone in our family espouses strong Judeo/Christian beliefs, the pollsters in every case, upon answering the eligibility screen questions, were the ones to tell us we were not eligible to take the poll!
By the way, only 3 asked if the person they were speaking with was 18 or older, or was a registered voter.
In speaking with people from Detroit proper, many had been frequently polled.
Our experience was not at all an exhaustive study in polling strategy. However, it does shine light on some of the ways polls can be manipulated, and still call them a “random sample”.
These pollsters, claiming to be random, were dishonest period.
Of course, *many in our society depend on how their social circles think or vote to form their own personal opinions. Pollsters know this, and this is precisely the motivation behind the political weaponization of polling!
No one wants to be outcast from their friends and social circles.
The goal is to create the belief among voters, that most of those in their social circles and jurisdictions believe or will vote a certain way. In this way, pollsters are critical in the effort to create the *bandwagon effect!
IT IS ADULT PEER PRESSURE!
It has been shown, it is absolutely possible to destroy one candidate, and cause another to win through the “bandwagon effect”!
The more ignorant the poll sample, the easier it is to impact or SWAY an election through the *bandwagon effect!
It would be foolish to believe, there is not an attempt to use polling, to create the illusion that Roy Moore is losing!
It is an old, but tried and often true way, to take what does not exist, and create a new reality through the use and illusion of polls.
It is not only important which locations (demographics) are being sampled, but the types or carefully constructed questions asked.
Regarding Alabama, notice it is the outside interest groups and national network organizations behind the polls!
It is no different than the RNC spending $30,000,000 dollars to take out Judge Roy Moore in the republican primary. The polls are designed by outsiders to create a new reality, and to MANIPULATE and SWAY the voters of Alabama to their Washington DC demands and objectives!
The Fox Network did this to Trump, showing him more behind at times than CNN!
Fox has never had conservative values or objectives!
AND they HATE Roy Moore!
This poll oversampled Democrats. I’ll wait till I see a few more. Team Moore has managed to turn things around the last few days. The Allred accuser has fallen apart. The Mall ban story has fallen apart. Moore needs to just keep highlighting the inconsistencies and show people how there is a real conspiracy to assassinate his character.
I got a call from an (automated) pollster just this evening. What I gave them was: I’m a teen lesbian Democrat who supports Trump, dislikes the NFL and makes more than $250K per year.
Polls lie, and they are become less accurate.
FAKE NEWS!
Just like last year. The Liberal Media, including Murdoch News, never learn.
You just won’t find republicans voting for Jones within the state.
Are you being paid for your non stop bullshit Pinkbell
Admin moderator do we have to suffer through these operatives every election
I mean really
Is this Mitch McConnell office or some zombie from National Review
We don’t need this
This poster is spamming the site with anti Moore drivel
Stop acting like a triggered liberal. It’s just a poll. People can make what they want of it. It’s posted to be analyzed. Apparently, you are like the left in wanting to get someone banned because they have offended you. My great offense worthy of being banned? Posting a Fox News poll with results you don’t like.
