In a historic change, the Boy Scouts are announcing plans to admit girls into the Cub Scouts starting next year and to establish a new program for older girls using the same curriculum as the Boy Scouts.
Under the plan announced Wednesday, Cub Scout dens the smallest unit will be single-gender, either all-boys or all-girls. The larger Cub Scout packs will have the option to welcome both genders if they choose.

What age group are these?
Cub Scouts are age 6-11 or 1st grade-4th grade IIRC
+1
Let boys learn to be manly. Let girls learn to be womanly.

Amen!
Pathetic. First the faggots, now girls? I thought they had their own program? Time to establish a new version of the BS.
I spent most of my youth in the Cub Scout/ Webelo/ Boy Scout program. It was extremely beneficial to me and I had a number of great experiences including camping, fishing, canoeing, archery, even riflery. I grew up in a rough urban area so those excursions did me a lot of good. Even when we met in the city, we did a lot of fun and wholesome things like Pinewood Derby, hiking and historical tours. Even a visit to a monastery, which was quite the experience.
I probably would never have joined the Marine Corps if I did not have the Scouting experience.
I then put my own two sons through the full program during the 1990s. They also had a very good experience with lots of camping and other activities such as sleepovers in Museums and at a local minor league ballbark in which we saw the game and then setup tents in the outfield.
During that time, all this political nonsense was going on at the national level but that never seemed to filter down to the local level. All the scoutmasters and volunteers were first rate and the kids all had a great time in the program.
At some of these activities, the sisters of scouts tagged along and a good number of mothers volunteered as well and it was never a problem as we could never seem to find enough dads to participate.
So I can agree with you that at the local level, a good experience can still be had.
Like putting a stand in front of the “medical” marijuana store?
They just cannot permit a single place where boys can be boys.

Yep, all part of the plan to neuter males.
Thanks, Bryan, but my question to Oregon Valkyrie was regarding the age of Explorer Scouts.
What will they do about camping trips? Will there be separate tents for boys and girls?
Read the article . Dens separated, Packs co gender. So yes, camping will be Den specific. Girls camp and shower OVER THERE, cub scout tent and shower WAY WAY WAY OVER THERE.
My boy is involved in a Scout troop that is quite masculine, in many ways. They are teaching them to be self-sufficient, a productive member of society, and give back to the community. The latest Eagle event was a perfect example. The young man insisted on it being held on 9/11, as he wanted to honor the fallen and the first responders and the military. They showed a video where he was, as a toddler, literally taking his first steps as the news broadcast of the attacks was playing the background. It was very moving. My son is in a great group with many positive, manly role models. As I have come to know better the dads - and moms - of this group, I have a hard time seeing how they will allow these efforts to be diminished or distorted in any way. Conservatism runs strong with this group. Let’s hope it stays that way, with this new development.
Learning to be prepared, to be a good citizen and person, to learn useful skills is something important for both boys and girls. You don’t go to scouting to learn to be womanly. You go to learn to be more capable and a better person.
When my daughter entered Girl Scouts we were both disgusted by the wussy program. If the Boy Scouts are stepping up to provide a serious program for girls too, then more power to them. It worked in the Explorer Scouts for decades. I’m living proof.
When I was in it it was high school aged kids, with some extension into early college.
“The BSA allowed young women ages 1420 to join special-interest Explorer posts beginning in 1969. Many posts became co-ed. The focus on career exploration was increased and, as the years progressed, Exploring focused more on career exploration posts, though outdoor and sports-oriented Posts continued to thrive.”
The Exploring program was reorganized and split into two program categories in 1998. All the career-oriented posts were moved to Learning for Life under the name Exploring, while the rest (including outdoor-oriented posts) became the new Venturing program. Sea Exploring was renamed Sea Scouting and placed under the Venturing program. In February 2016, Sea Scouting became a separate program division.

Then they will play the old game of show me yours and I will show you mine, and then we can decide which sex you are, or want to be, and also. Nothing is sacred anymore. God has turned America over to a reprobate mind. They believe the lie and He is letting them believe it. The Scriptures prophesied these days, and those days are HERE, RIGHT NOW!!!
The BoyGirl scouts! Or how about the FeMale Scouts of America!
Yeah, lets screw that up too...gak
“I havent seen a boy scout in 5 years.”
Go to Sam’s Club.
As you exit, there will be 25 of them trying to get you to buy popcorn.
;-)
He’ll be shamed by the troop leader/den mother...
I’m under no delusions that Scouts, as an organization, is on the downhill slope, and that’s unfortunate. The fact of the matter is, though, that it still has great value.
In my small town in northern Minnesota, we hear and read about the changes coming. The vast majority of us don’t embrace these erosions. Fortunately, it hasn’t affected us up here. It very well might...someday.
I was already reading about the changes when my son started as a Tiger Cub in first grade. I thought twice about getting him (and us) involved. We were Den Leaders all the way through his Cub Scout career. He crossed over, and I started as the Troop Secretary, and my wife as Advancement Coordinator.
Two days ago (this Monday), my son earned his Eagle Scout, and is very proud of it. I’m very proud of him, and proud of myself and my wife for the contribution we’ve made to this historic organization.
The local Boy Scout Troop is not the BSA... anymore than local Minnesota Families represent the liberal bastions of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
The longer good people are involved in Scouting, the longer it will remain an excellent, valuable resource for crafting young men... at the local level— which is where it counts.
Who didn’t see this coming? Raise your hands...That’s what I thought.
