Timothy Vaughn dutifully cheered the University of Missouri for a decade, sitting in the stands with his swag, two hot dogs and a Diet Coke. He estimates he attended between 60 and 85 athletic events every yearfootball and basketball games and even tennis matches and gymnastics meets. But after the infamous protests of fall 2015, Missouri lost this die-hard fan.

Salvation Army, American Cancer Society.... are you listening?!
If you live in a town with a university, the live athletic events are a great source of entertainment and social interaction.
Frankly, it beats the heck out of watching tv at home, alone.
Or just about any other school.
Good. Hope professors and staff are suffering.
If that was your letter of protest, it might have been more effective to be clear about the whys and wherefores. Apparently they couldn’t decipher your letters meaning.
That's a good point. When a school is swirling around the toilet, the first sign of trouble is that out-of-state students don't want to go there anymore. These are the students who pay the most to attend the school, and who usually have the most options when it comes to selecting a college. It's easy to see why nobody who isn't from Missouri would want to go to the University of Missouri these days.
I only give to good animal rescue outfits.
As long as you don’t get beat to heck!
When I was based out at Fort Lewis, WA about 30 years ago, we would go onto the Evergreen Campus for their Renaissance Fair. The kids had a ball as the events planned for the kidlets were a lot of fun for them. After visiting a couple of times, I had a T-shirt made up that chapped their gums! On the front, “Welcome to the Evergreen State College” On the back “Turn your weird meter back to the 60s” Since they thought they were such a “progressive” school some of those flakes really made a hullabaloo about the shirt. It was fun to watch them reach their boiling point over a shirt.
Its the fewest NFL draft picks Mizzou has had since 2012, when tight end Michael Egnew was the only player selected from MU.I'm guessing that, after all the headaches that Colin Kaepernick gave the NFL, the teams were not interested in signing too many new players who might do likewise.
My follow was more descriptive. I told them I boycotted Target after their bathroom decision. And suggested they plan for a 20% reduction in donations.
I won’t donate to either, haven’t in years. I found a local cooperative of churches which actually investigates the people who come looking for help to see if they are truly in need or the re-occuring mooches of society. I give to them and my local church.
A few years back the institution I work at was tasked with getting ALL of it’s employees to donate a portion of their paycheck to the United Way because the president of the system liked them. They actually had co-workers go to people who refused to donate and lean on them to cough up $$$ to make our president look good to the president of the system. I politely told the co-worker they sent to me both presidents could go pound sand since nobody had received a raise in the last two years and I-ME decided what charities I donated too and one president was making half a million a year with a $100K housing allowance while the other was pulling $150K and a $15K expense account. Needless to say they got many similar responses and the president didn’t get his 100% employee donation quota.
I don’t think it was ODing on diversity- the people who did it were white.
I did not know thay - niether, will get a cent out of my Family again
Check out this excerpt from Thomas Jefferson's one book:
A few marker strokes and she would look just like Lenin
“Needless to say they got many similar responses and the president didnt get his 100% employee donation quota.”
I’d be afraid in this situation of getting fired, not officially of course, for my “attitude.”
Which is why I really detest workplace fundraising. If the CEO wants to give, he can give. I find it insulting. As if I need to be prodded to be charitable.
I also hate the nonstop fundraising at the grocerty stores - “would you like to donate to __________ today?” then they say “Safeway donated a million dollars to Whatever!” No they didn’t, their pestered customers did.
I just say “no” without apology. I don’t blame the clerks. They are forced to do it.
I am Mizzou graduate, so was my Dad.
The university will never get a penny from me.
Thanks Melissa Quick, thanks Gary Pinkel, thanks to the billionaire’s son who went on hunger strike, thanks to the student (president) who falsely claimed feces was smeared on the bathroom walls, thanks to the scum diversity crowd who lied about the lack of attention to their protests (that were false).
I am ashamed at how the administration and football team caved.
