“Needless to say they got many similar responses and the president didnt get his 100% employee donation quota.”
I’d be afraid in this situation of getting fired, not officially of course, for my “attitude.”
Which is why I really detest workplace fundraising. If the CEO wants to give, he can give. I find it insulting. As if I need to be prodded to be charitable.
I also hate the nonstop fundraising at the grocerty stores - “would you like to donate to __________ today?” then they say “Safeway donated a million dollars to Whatever!” No they didn’t, their pestered customers did.
I just say “no” without apology. I don’t blame the clerks. They are forced to do it.
They actually pulled certain employees from departments, met with them and tasked them to lean on their co-workers. Mine already knew my stance and said just so you know I asked you and I am reporting you said no. Works for me.
My brother works for a notoriously liberal engineering firm in out area and the company owners wife loves United Way. They were not even asked if they wanted to donate, the HR department took a certain dollar amount from each employees check to be donated to the United Way.
All were afraid to challenge the boss until they got one contrarian who finally said NO you may not take out any charitable donations from my check and if you retaliate I will commence activities to start a union. Amazingly this very liberal company stopped dead in it’s tracks and employees were asked about donations and most said no and it stopped being taken from their checks.
This same very liberal corporation also refused to give their employees any sick/vacation days for many years, if you missed for broken arm, funeral whatever you were docked pay. More do as I say, not as I do leftist.
