Late night talk show host Stephen Colbert's controversial joke about President Trump drew the attention of the Federal Communications Commission. The agency received "a number" of complaints about Colbert's commentary earlier in the week, according to the FCC's chief. FCC Chairman Ajit Pai promised to "take the appropriate action" following a comprehensive investigation of Colbert's remarks. The FCC's response will depend on whether Colbert's remarks are considered "obscene."

"Mongoloid"? Seriously?
Do you think they would still be searching for Colbert's body?
The government has always censured speech across the public airwaves to maintain at least a moderate amount of decency. If Colbert wants to talk like he's in a sewer (and here on Arizona time, it's pretty darn close to being prime time viewing), then he needs to go join that greasy creep Bill Maher over on HBO. That's why cable is cable and mainstream TV is "mainstream."
What on earth is there to investigate?

My GOODNESS man, where have you BEEN!!
INTENT!! They have too determine INTENT!!
This is not cable—it is an over-the-air channel & I believe this is is why FCC can make a ruling and fine.
The OP is right. Boycott Walgreens.
The low-paid guy who takes the call can pass it up the line to the high-paid guy who makes the decisions. Or Walgreens can just read their mail.
Guarantees him a win.
This is what people are pissed about.
If they just let Trump be Trump, he’d probably lose.
It’s sponsors, and advertisers. But don’t stop there. It’s also businesses that do business with those advertisers and sponsors as well.
Nope. That’s what they want you to say. Conservatives need to hold liberals to the standards they apply on us. If a conservative said that about Obama, what would happen? There would be outrage in the media, boycott threats would ensue, the person would apologize but it wouldn’t matter as they would be promptly fired and their name forever tarnished. There is a double standard - plus the fact that he used this on a main network, not cable.
***The double standard in this country is mind-boggling.***
No its not. Just look at this thread. Look at all the wet blankets here telling people not to take action. This shut up and take it attitude of these people is the root cause of conservative lack of will.
Fortunately there are people like dp0622 who will not be deterred by these cowards.
Folks, getting all twisted over Colbert is foolish. This guy is zero from head to toe, just as his useless sister was when she ran for Congress against the “womanizer, Ex-Governor of South Carolina, (Sanford), a few years back!!! The ole governor slaughtered her, and she has not be heard from since!!!
Now Sanford was not exactly a good boy, but, he is a good Congressman. Compared to these two low lifes, he is the boy scout of the year!!! Mr. Colbert will flame out quickly with his ranting, hateful, big mouth, that knows and says nothing!!!
“This is not cableit is an over-the-air channel & I believe this is is why FCC can make a ruling and fine.”
I never said it was cable. I have no idea why you posted that to me. I atta-boyed someone’s comment about CUTTING cable.
Wait, you used Google and you want to boycott Walgreens? Wow. I guess you aren’t paying attention.
He is a total ahole. And his audience is just as bad. I think Carson would be embarrassed by many of these late night clowns.
And it’s not what he says. He just simply sucks.
I was wondering how they got that sort of audience, but then when I thought about it it was obvious that they self selected. What conservative would want to listen to an hour of unrelieved no talent verbal attacks on his beliefs?
This is a case where the FCC should not exist. But if we don’t uses the leftist own tools against them they will never recognize those tools as a threat to liberty.
It may seem hypocritical but there are things you don't say in front of your mother or in front of the children. What he said is permissible on HBO or Comedy Central or even the Disney Channel because cable channels are presumed to be "paid tv" so women and children choose to be subjected to offensive material. The over-the-air channels, such as CBS, NBC and Fox are held to a higher moral standard because their locally-owned stations make their living over the public airwaves and must regularly apply for rights to get or keep using certain over-the-air ratings.
That's why Janet Jackson's infamous "nipple slip" at the Super Bowl generated fines because the Super Bowl was being shown on over-the-air television while the same thing or worse can be shown on MTV and nobody would complain.
Colbert deserves to be fined and so does CBS. It was offensive and it is presumed what goes out on his type of show are scripted and rehearsed so, therefore, not accidental.
What would be funny is to see how the liberals would do a 180 if the same thing were said of Obama or Hillary Clinton by a conservative comedian.
“Colberts a hero now among the Rats and the snowflakes. If he gets a fine the network will pay it give him a raise. Meanwhile the network refuses to run an ad Trump wants to run about his first 100 days.”
The network needs to be called out. If leftist can sue poor christian bakeries who refuses to bake obscene cakes, or poor photographers who refuses to shoot Obsesses photos. They should not be permitted to refuse to sell their advertisements to people they don’t like.
Leftist double standard that needs to be challenged. Lets get this challenged now so that by 2020 the court will decide the issue
Most “comedy” is now obscene and mean spirited left wing political screeds. Why anybody watches it is beyond me.
Even if I were a lefty, I would not find the “comedy” of today inspirational, creative nor funny. Little of anything the “arts” produces is worthwhile these days.
