President Donald Trump's choice for Army secretary announced Friday that he is withdrawing his name from consideration.
"It is with deep regret today I am withdrawing my nomination to be the Secretary of the Army," Mark Green said in a statement. On Tuesday, CNN reported that the nomination was in serious jeopardy, and he could be withdrawing as soon as this week, three sources familiar with the matter told CNN. The decision by Green, Trump's second pick for the post, came after his nomination ran into trouble following a backlash after past controversial statements on LGBT issues, Islam and evolution were revealed. Both the White House and Pentagon had told reporters earlier Friday there was nothing to announce regarding Green's nomination.

Trump is going to fail effin miserably if he doesn’t start fighting to smash the teeth of the Politically correct deep state commies.
Sounds like he was a good man, but lacked the will to fight.
The first one was the owner of the Florida Panthers, the NHL hockey team...Vincent Viola. He has a horse in this weekend’s Kentucky Derby.
Viola quit because he couldn’t adequately get his finances divested.
DJT will find someone, I am sure. The guy has run numerous businesses. He’ll find the right person.
Damn shame this current guy was hurt because he apparently doesn’t go along with the secular views of dangerous behaviours and beliefs.
Wasn’t Trump going to slay PCness?
Hurray...... Dr. Green was setting up to run for governor of TN before being asked to be Sec. of Army. He will be a great governor for Tennessee. Conservative, 2A supporter, and smart. Spoke with him at the house and at a local gun shop a couple of times... I don’t see him backing down because of crap from the gayfers... probably was somebody else’s decision.
I am so sick of democrat destruction of good people while the republicans keep playing nice thinking the d’s will return the favor.
Its time to go after dems with no mercy. Start with Hillary and Huma.
Meet the new Republicans - the same as the old Republicans. Spineless. Weak. Terrified of bad press. When would the Democrats pull somebody because they care what Republicans think? Trump’s strategy in dealing with these people isn’t as strong as I thought it would be.
Mr. Green should have waited until September. That’s when the GOP and Trump are going to fight for the Wall, against sanctuary cities, against the Iran deal, etc. Really, it’s all scheduled. Big strong fight in the future. Just not right now.
“Thats when the GOP and Trump are going to fight for the Wall, against sanctuary cities, against the Iran deal, etc. Really, its all scheduled.”
Hope so, because just 3 months after that, they can’t do anything because it will be an election year.
I hope Trump nominates Allen West.
McCain killed the nomination. He always manages to screw up the GOP position.
Too bad, but he will make an excellent governor for Tennessee.
We aren’t afraid of political correctness in Tennessee.
At the bottom of this decision you will probably find McCain and Graham. With 52 Republican Senators, it doesn’t take much to sink a nominee.
From four days agao, "CNN has obtained forty-two minutes of audio against evolution by Dr. Mark Green."
They have both criticized Green publicly, although neither said they would definitely not vote for him. But with Pence available to break a tie vote, there must have been at least one other Republican Senator that Trump expected to vote no.
Green, who is a former Army doctor, is also a self-identified "creationist" who has delivered a lecture arguing against the theory of evolution. Green had defended himself from criticism in a Facebook post last week, writing that the "liberal left has cut and spliced my words about terrorism and ISIS, blatantly falsifying what I've said."
Republican Sens. Lindsey Graham and John McCain have also expressed concern over Green's past comments.
If your Red Flag isn't raised over this, it should be.
He is not showing backbone on some very important issues.
