Uh, Mr. Starnes, haven't "grits" been declared racist yet? After all, they do represent "southern culture" and we all know what that means..................

I always had my choirs eat grits; it helped them sing with better hominy.

Grew up NYC area and never heard of grits until I got to Parris Island, 1966. Was so hungry I ate everything they had to offer.
Fifty years later and I still eat grits.

I order shrimp and grits here in KC metro as follows: shrimp and grits, hold the bacon, hold the cheese, light on the green onions, hold the barbecue sauce. Yes, in KC they actually put BBQ sauce on grits. But the end result is very good.

Anyone who regards grocery store grits as “okay,” should check out the Anson Mills grits made from heirloom corn. You’ll never go back to the mass produced stuff.

My Maternal Grandfather lived in Florida but owned land in both Florida and Geneva County, Alabama.
Growing up, Mother made grits for breakfast probably 90% of the time. I love grits but not by their self. They mix with other foods, especially sausage and eggs.
I don’t recall her ever making them for any meal but breakfast. My late wife never could get them just right and I am even worse.

we had to start serving 100 percent whole grainsWhat part of grits - ground hominy corn - is not whole grain, or are we discriminating against corn these days.

...haven't "grits" been declared racist yet? If you're not from the South, you can be forgiven for not knowing that black folks love them some grits.

Back in 1957 I attended Squadron Officer School at Maxwell AFB, in Montgomery, AL. Every restaurant I ate at served grits for breakfast. First time I had eaten them. My wife started serving them with ground beef and onions.

The Federal Government should have absolutely NO SAY in what schools serve for lunch.
