My Maternal Grandfather lived in Florida but owned land in both Florida and Geneva County, Alabama.

Growing up, Mother made grits for breakfast probably 90% of the time. I love grits but not by their self. They mix with other foods, especially sausage and eggs.

I don’t recall her ever making them for any meal but breakfast. My late wife never could get them just right and I am even worse.

I was in the hospital in Geneva, Alabama a few months ago getting a skin cancer removed from my neck. I had to be there at 6 A.M.. After I had gotten over the fairly long surgery, it was around 8.

They ordered a breakfast for me and it came just as I was being released. They let me take it with me and I had it when I got home.

Someone in that hospital really knows how to cook grits. The eggs and bacon were also great.
