Texas Governor Abbott To Sign Legislation That Can Put Sheriffs of 'Sanctuary Cities' In Jail

Texas Governor, Greg Abbott just called into the Steve Malzberg show to discuss sanctuary cities plaguing certain counties in his great state. He said he would sign legislation that could put Sheriffs of sanctuary cities in jail.

Here we go, folks! Don’t mess with Texas!

“ Steve Malzberg: “I know you brought up the possibility of jailing such Sheriffs recently.”

Greg Abbott: “We have. It’s a two-step process. One, as Governor I could unilaterally use my office to take funds away from Travis County that had been previously granted to them under Governor’s grants for criminal justice reasons and we have defunded them to the tune of $1.5 million.

In addition to that, we have been pushing a piece of legislation in Texas that is going to pass that I will be signing into law that imposes even sterner penalties on counties. Uh it will include things such as further defunding them and it could impose jail time for the Sheriffs to enforce the laws.

Oddly enough these Sheriffs could wind up behind the very bars they are releasing these very criminals from.”

Sheriffs go get them. About time something is working to stem the protecting of criminal illegals and returning back out to continue their criminal activities.

What about putting mayors in jail?

Yep, I like that much better. Mayors seem to be a bigger part of the problem.

Texas Governor Abbott To Sign Legislation That Can Put Sheriffs of 'Sanctuary Cities' In Jail

The Alt Right continues to get stronger.

Crushing enemies of American civilization is an Alt Right position.

Not dealing with them. Not debating them. Not reaching across the aisle. Not publishing a policy paper. And certainly not placating them and surrendering.

CRUSHING them.

Conservatives would sit on their hands and whine.

Good idea. Many of the blackrobes are as guilty as the people they judge.

Arrest the city mayors and managers that support it, too.

As imperfect as Trump is, as we have seen with the healthcare debacle, none of this would be happening had Trump not won.

You do realize that he’s just the governor, that Texas is a weak-governor state by design and that he’s *asking* the Legislature (which is in session now) to give him the power to do just that, right???

The list I have is ancient. I thought it had died. If you like I’ll use what I have.

Long past sufficient time for legislature to pass and him to sign.

Well, it seemed to work. Not sure how complete it is. But I did not get one that gave me an error message for not finding name.

Thanks for suggestion.

Don't know that such a law is not duplicative:

8 U.S. Code § 1324 - Bringing in and harboring certain aliens

(a) Criminal penalties

(1)
(A) Any person who—
(i)
knowing that a person is an alien, brings to or attempts to bring to the United States in any manner whatsoever such person at a place other than a designated port of entry or place other than as designated by the Commissioner, regardless of whether such alien has received prior official authorization to come to, enter, or reside in the United States and regardless of any future official action which may be taken with respect to such alien;
(ii)
knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, transports, or moves or attempts to transport or move such alien within the United States by means of transportation or otherwise, in furtherance of such violation of law;
(iii)
knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation;
(iv)
encourages or induces an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law; or
(v)
(I)
engages in any conspiracy to commit any of the preceding acts, or
(II)
aids or abets the commission of any of the preceding acts,
shall be punished as provided in subparagraph (B).
(B) A person who violates subparagraph (A) shall, for each alien in respect to whom such a violation occurs—
(i)
in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(i) or (v)(I) or in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(ii), (iii), or (iv) in which the offense was done for the purpose of commercial advantage or private financial gain, be fined under title 18, imprisoned not more than 10 years, or both;
(ii)
in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(ii), (iii), (iv), or (v)(II), be fined under title 18, imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both;
(iii)
in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(i), (ii), (iii), (iv), or (v) during and in relation to which the person causes serious bodily injury (as defined in section 1365 of title 18) to, or places in jeopardy the life of, any person, be fined under title 18, imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both; and
(iv)
in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(i), (ii), (iii), (iv), or (v) resulting in the death of any person, be punished by death or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, fined under title 18, or both.

Has anybody been murdered by an illegal in Tarrant County?

Texas has a problem in the Legislature - his name is Joe Strauss. He’s a big roadblock.

No reason not to. Remember, the courts said that a state isn’t responsible for enforcing Federal law....

a better idea is to pass a state law that,
the entities of Austin and Travis county no longer exist,

and that the resulting unincorporated land is
to be policed by Texas Rangers
under the personal command of the Govanator.

Wrong. She gave an oath to the Constitution. She is ignoring her oath, and therefor needs to be prosecuted.
