It is very clear to anyone paying attention that the only reason to oppose him is political. That is not valid.

The only way this won’t be fun is if the GOPe caves.

It used to be that the president got some measure of deference from the other party for his nominations unless there was a personal not a policy flaw in the nominee. The now hyperpartisan Democrats have changed that dynamic, so I say that, unfortunately, the filibuster, a product of a different era, has to go to try to avoid total deadlock over appointments.

If Trump and stupid party members in congress can’t get Gorsuch through, they should just hand the government to the dems and go home now.

But that is the gold ring the democrats are trying to grab.

Even Linda Graham is making sense:

If Democrats successfully filibuster Gorsuch, Graham added, it would say “that qualifications will no longer matter. There’s no way you can argue that this man’s not qualified. He got the highest rating that the American Bar Association can give somebody. So it means that ideology matters.”

It is all about the "win" for the Leftists, and the still molten rage about Trump beating the "Chosen" Hillary Clinton.

The country, the government be damned! They want their revenge.

>>I would force the democrats to filibuster. Talk until they drop. <<

It hasn’t worked that way in the Senate for years. When they do actually do that it is for show.

They just declare an intention to filibuster and that holds the legislation up until the (now) 60 votes for cloture occurs.

The nuclear option changes the rule for cloture to a simple majority.

I am sure this SCOUT nomination will end the filibuster forever in the Senate for everything.

You are correct

Make them speak till they drop, literally wear them out. Perhaps one will die at the podium, reducing the margin.

I hope they do. Their are some very senior liberal justices that more than likely will be replaced during Trumps tenure

She's up and coming.....and Schumer is down and going.

A very important point, This vote for the court has a lot of bi-partisan support. So senators facing tough re-elections in 2018 need to ask what is more important, their hide or schumer's back side.

The nuclear option is not happening. Get ready for McCain to stab us in the back in the name of “preserving the traditions of the Senate.”

In a world in which Kagan and Sotomayer sailed through, the GOP sure as hell should go nuclear if need be to get this done. Frankly, I don’t think Mitch “No Stones” McConnell will do so.

I believe the Democrats have long planned to allow their Senators who are vulnerable in 2018 (Manchin et. al.) to vote for Gorsuch but only in such numbers that Gorsuch gets 58 or 59 votes. They will force the nuclear option so that they can attempt to delegitamize the Court just as they are attempting to delegitamize Trump. They must also force the nuclear option because their activist base demands it.

The Dems are not going to vote for Gorsuch, even if they don’t vote for the filibuster.

Just push the red button already.

More sixty-vote blah-blah. The correct play will be to invoke the “Congressional Day” rule, which limits each speaker to two statements during the “day”, which can in fact be arbitrarily long — weeks if needed. Then the so-called “nuclear option” can be saved for whoever is nominated to fill Ginsberg’s cold seat later.

Trump hasn’t made many errors, but this one was huge:

He named Elaine Chao as Transportation Sec BEFORE getting the other key people confirmed. He should have held her hostage as the last appointee until Yertle got all other nominees confirmed.

You need to step back and realize how much Trump has already changed. Laz puts up a nice list on here go read it.

Gorsuch will be confirmed.
