Are you concerned that Neil Gorsuch belongs to a far-left church?
American Thinker ^ | 02/10/2017 | Ed Straker

President Obama was criticized by Republicans for attending a church led by Jeremiah Wright, who repeatedly criticized the United States for being, in his own opinion, an evil terrorist nation.  People wondered, how could Obama sit through sermons like that, year after year?  Didn't that mean that at the very least, Obama didn't have any serious problems with what Wright was saying?

Well, we saw after eight years of Obama that that was probably true – that Obama saw America in a bad light.  That's why he kept trying to "fundamentally transform" it.

But what about Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch?  He belongs to a far-left church that embraces marriage redefinition, gun control, and the theory of man-caused global warming.

He belongs to St. John's Episcopal Church in Boulder, Colo., the Episcopal diocese of Colorado confirmed on Wednesday. Church bulletins show that the judge has been an usher three times in recent months. His wife Louise frequently leads the intercessory prayer and reads the weekly Scripture at Sunday services, and his daughters assist in ceremonial duties during church services as acolytes.

The first word that St. John's uses to describe itself on its website and Facebook page is "inclusive," and the church is led by a female rector. On its website, the church encourages members to write letters to Congress asking for actions addressing climate change.

That's not all.  Its website also calls for members to lobby their congressmen for more gun control.

And more:

Rev. Susan Springer has said she is pro-gay marriage and offers blessings to same-sex couples

The church's Rev. Ted Howard also signed a letter slamming the 'disrespectful rhetoric' directed at Islam as Trump floated a ban on Muslim immigrants[.] ...

Ditto....and along my journey there was a time that I really believed that I was called to be part of the faithful remnant who would not bow to the modern ba’als.

Then the drone of the ison rose to a siren pitch and I could hold back no longer.

“...so many people I know attend a church that believes one way yet attendees believe/support the opposite.”

Your observation is exactly why my husband and I no longer attend “church”. The Methodists, the Presbyterians, and the Episcopalians all espouse too many viewpoints with which we disagree. We continue to worship God, study His word, and pray daily. We support charitable causes. However, we cannot condone many of the stances taken by “the church”.

You like shifting the goal posts. You wanted to know how Gorsuch ended up in Bpulder. You got an answer. As to how and why he ended up at that church—only God and Gorsuch know all the facts.

Judge Gorsuch’s record of ruling based only on law and facts is exceptionally solid.

They have to be until you actually get to the Supreme Court, then you can be whatever kind of judge you want to be.

I’m interested in Gorsuch’s opinions not his church.

You may be shocked to learn that Church is designed to effect your opinion and you actions.

I suspect like me Gorsuch was raised in a Church that has moved rapidly to the left in recent decades.

Gorsuch was raised in the Roman Church. He defected to the English Church because that was the church his new wife belonged to. He met her while studying at Oxford.

My only comfort right now is maybe his wife picked the church and he goes for her.

He met his wife while studying at Oxford. She's British, and he converted to her religion from Catholicism.

As far as liberalism, given il Papa, I see little difference of consequence between the two religions.

BTW, Justice Scalia was a conservative Catholic. Reportedly, he steered Justice Thomas, who had fallen away from the religion, back to the Church of Rome.

Gorsuch probably has a library card too, and we know what kinds of naughty and seditious books rhey have in the Boulder public library.

The real news there would be that Gorsuch has and uses a library card.

Libraries are so 1980s!

These days, you ask your phone a question, and, if the answer is not immediately spoken, you follow the provided links. No need for libraries. No need for librarians.

Are we sure he cares enough about religion to have church shopped? Maybe he doesn’t. Maybe the bad one was close to his house or his wife liked the stain glass windows or something.

Well, there's that. But who wants to be struck by lightning? You've got to think about the future!

.
The “catholic church” is the farthest left of all churches, yet hundreds of judges have been appointed that were members thereof, and several of them have been among our finest judges.

Picking on an appointed judge because he attends some little known “church” is simply trolling.

I think he’s from that area, and it might be his childhood church. If so, there are other dynamics at play.

The “Goal” is to put a conservative Justice on the Court.

>>As to how and why he ended up at that church

He made a CHOICE.

I don’t know how it works in your fantasy world - but that’s how it works in reality land.

There are doctrinally pure churches where there is no love/agape, and there are more liberal churches where agape overflows.

Christ’s definition of marriage doesn’t change and is mirrored in His relationship with the Church.

Any organization that embraces the homosexual abomination of nature and the perversion of marriage is anti-Christ.

According to all the sources, he and his wife attend regularly every Sunday and take active roles in the church: he's an usher and she's a lector who does bible readings. If the members of his parish say they only see the Gorsuch's around Christmas, you may have a point, but by all accounts he's pretty devoted to the church.

Yeah, and Michigan is the westernmost state on the left coast.

Let me know when any of the "more conservative" protestant churches forbid all forms of birth control and order all their clergy to remain celebrate to be ordained. By the way, even the very liberal Cardinal Cupich of Chicago sent out a letter to churches throughout the Archdiocese of Chicago to let their representatives know that SB 40 taxpayer funding of Abortion bill needs to be stopped. I'm sure Joel Osteen will telling his flock the same, right?

Jesus gave us a vivid and clear picture of the Day of Judgement. The sheep and goats were forever divided. Have you read the account recently? Does Jesus say to the sheep, “Come to my right hand side, because you always maintained doctrinal purity,” while to the goats, “Depart into the eternal fire of damnation, accursed ones, because you embraced liberal doctrines,”?

>> “ order all their clergy to remain celebrate to be ordained” <<

Contrary to the word of Yehova!

A pastor must be a man married to one woman, and whose children are well behaved.

That is what the word says.

A celebate man is not qualified to lead anyone.
