Are you concerned that Neil Gorsuch belongs to a far-left church?
American Thinker ^ | 02/10/2017 | Ed Straker

President Obama was criticized by Republicans for attending a church led by Jeremiah Wright, who repeatedly criticized the United States for being, in his own opinion, an evil terrorist nation.  People wondered, how could Obama sit through sermons like that, year after year?  Didn't that mean that at the very least, Obama didn't have any serious problems with what Wright was saying?

Well, we saw after eight years of Obama that that was probably true – that Obama saw America in a bad light.  That's why he kept trying to "fundamentally transform" it.

But what about Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch?  He belongs to a far-left church that embraces marriage redefinition, gun control, and the theory of man-caused global warming.

He belongs to St. John's Episcopal Church in Boulder, Colo., the Episcopal diocese of Colorado confirmed on Wednesday. Church bulletins show that the judge has been an usher three times in recent months. His wife Louise frequently leads the intercessory prayer and reads the weekly Scripture at Sunday services, and his daughters assist in ceremonial duties during church services as acolytes.

The first word that St. John's uses to describe itself on its website and Facebook page is "inclusive," and the church is led by a female rector. On its website, the church encourages members to write letters to Congress asking for actions addressing climate change.

That's not all.  Its website also calls for members to lobby their congressmen for more gun control.

And more:

Rev. Susan Springer has said she is pro-gay marriage and offers blessings to same-sex couples

The church's Rev. Ted Howard also signed a letter slamming the 'disrespectful rhetoric' directed at Islam as Trump floated a ban on Muslim immigrants[.] ...

‘Why belong to a church unless you are at one with its teachings?’

Because while I lived in MA, the selection wasn’t all that could be desired. I ended up at a liberal church. It did not affect me theologically or politically. At that time and place, it was the best option available.

“Are you concerned that Neil Gorsuch belongs to a far-left church?”

No.

and this is the umpteenth time an article about Gorsuch’s church has been posted at FR by “concerned” FReepers.

Sarah Palin was criticized by the left for attending an evangelical church.

Her church building was set ablaze by leftists while members were still inside. Do you remember that happening? Not many FReepers do because the enemedia busted guts to NOT report much about that event that led directly to her resignation as Governor of Alaska.

It’s hard to find the perfect church. My deceased mother was both a devout Catholic and a conservative Republican. She honored the truths of the faith, not the failings of the people in it.

Yes, I am concerned about Gorsuch attending a left-wing church. This needs to be looked into immediately. You’re not going to sit there and listen to preaching Sunday after Sunday if you don’t fundamentally agree with what you’re hearing.

There also needs to be a psychological profile completed to determine if he’s going to fall victim to “cocktail party syndrome” like so many other conservatives have once they’ve moved to Washington.

Amen Brother: “A great tactic of the left. If they can’t submarine a pick, try and get the right to destroy one of their own by claiming they’re not conservative enough.”

See my tagline backing your statement.

Bolder, Co. is the land of fruits & nuts. He’s a bad pick and maybe Ivanka influenced him. Bite the bullet and can him now.

I am more concerned that he has ANY connection to Boulder Colorado

Tell me what conservative paradise houses an appellate court from which to pick SC judges. New Orleans? San Francisco? Oh, I know, Washington DC.

Appeals courts are located in big cities and big cities are liberal.

Now, if you want to attack him for attending Harvard, well, guess where Scalia went.

If he is as good a judge as people make him out to be, it doesn’t matter.

Some still have a odor lingering in their nostrils from what Justice John Roberts has done to the Court and our Nation; not a good smell at all.

Lest we forget, the American Thinker issued a dire warning that Obama would likely make a recess appointment in December and we would all be doomed (displaying a total ignorance of how such a maneuver could have easily been squashed by a simple senate procedure).

They worship golf and sailing as much as anything else.

Conservapedia was/is against him from day one. Totally uncomfortable with him stabbing the President in the back.

It’s clearly a warning sign

My family leaves churches that act up

Why stay at one?

No way

Course Denver is hardly church land

Boy you leave the south you learn quick that church rate drops precipitously

New York City

Beautiful churches but not enough congregants to expand

I go to traverse city mitch a lot

I did a comparison

Rate of churches in grand traverse county compared to suburban Nashville

15% of what we have here proportionally

Although I know that Francis is a greenie and socialist.

That’s for sure. A hypocrite to on the wall. Yes I am a Catholic and find Francis embarrassing at times.

He’s a greenie and a Socialist, and if he’s allowed to run unchecked much longer the Church WILL eventually support abortion and gay marriage.

I suspect like me Gorsuch was raised in a Church that has moved rapidly to the left in recent decades.

There is very little ideological conformity in the Episcopal Church. For the most part, the clergy is far to the left of the congregation.
