Pence to be sworn in by Justice Thomas

Vice president-elect Mike Pence will be sworn into office Jan. 20 by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, Reuters reported Thursday.

Thomas, a conservative legal icon, was included in the official program for Trump’s inauguration as shared online by the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies.

Trump will be sworn in by the Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts. Traditionally, the chief justice swears in the president, and an incoming vice president picks someone else to administer his oath of office.

Thomas, 68, is the second black justice to serve on the Supreme Court and is one of its most conservative members.

Trump is expected to nominate another conservative justice to fill the vacancy left by Justice Antonin Scalia, who died nearly a year ago.

Vice President Joe Biden was sworn in by liberal Justice John Paul Stevens in 2009 and liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor in 2013.

And Trump will be sworn in by John Roberts? The guy who was blackmailed to support Obamacare.

That's OK, he'll still be president. Rehnquist wasn't able to do anything about swearing in Slick Willie.

Or Earl Warren swearing in Richard Nixon. No love lost between the two of them, that I can tell you.

Thomas 68? Good. He quits at age 72 and becomes Atty. General in the 2nd term. More wonderful confirmation hearings. Another young SCOTUS. Piss off the libs. Triple whammy!

That’s very cool. At least he won’t have to repeat the oath of office later because he messed up.

If I were Trump, I would have asked Ginsburg to do it.

I might have demanded it.

I’d rather be sworn in by Thomas than Mr. Obamcare is legal, who messed up in 2009 and had give Obama a do over. To be fair Obama did start talking before Roberts was done with the first line of the oath, tripping him up, but I just re-watched it, it was certainly mostly Roberts fault. Sign from above about the what kind of Presidency we were in for.

Who swore in Plugs Biden? Stevens the first time and Wise Latina the second time, barf.

I think we will see that Roberts is not a traitor.

[I think we will see that Roberts is not a traitor.]

Can I assume that your statement is based on the rumor that he is being blackmailed, if so, then he put himself above country.

On the other hand he could inform our new president that he had been ‘manipulatated’ to support 0care and resign.

That is good. Wish Trump could be sworn in by Franklin Graham instead of Roberts.

He can be sworn in by anyone he wants. The Constitutional requirement is just that he is.

Trump is 70. Is he too old, too? What kind of nonsense is that? These days 68 year olds are running marathons.
