Kristol announced that he would become The Weekly Standard’s editor-at-large, “continuing to write weekly editorials and contribute to the website.” Steve Hayes and Richard Starr would take over the day-to-day operations of the website, Kristol wrote.

Under Kristol’s editorship, The Weekly Standard has been the central publication for neoconservatives, including Kristol’s father, the so-called “godfather” of neoconservativism, Irving Kristol.

During the election season, Kristol was a leading voice in the #NeverTrump camp and searched publicly for months for a conservative alternative to Trump

I agree. There were all kinds of absurd rumors such as Trump was running to help Hillary. Trump was the first one to have the courage to attack political correctness. I doubt any of the other candidates could have defeated Hillary.

On the Bret Baier (Bash Trump) News Report tonight, Krauthammer had a chance to shine on the Trump/hacking/Russian/blah-blah/phony issue...and he failed miserably. He had nothing to offer except to play both sides against the middle on the fraud being foisted on the American public.

Charles has been in a semi-catatonic state since Trump won, and his boring, know-it-all commentaries have become the drone of a fading-but-still-know-it-all, elitist, old Never-Trump fart.

Fox should ask him to submit his retirement request by the first of the year...and he should accommodate Fox forthwith.

I’m happy to hear this. For the past few months, I’ve just 86’d any and all msg’s from The Weekly Standard, thinking they will reflect the thinking of Kristol and his hate for Trump. In the mag, I skip anything written by him - the rest is ok though a number of authors seem honor-bound to reflect Kristol’s opinions. It should be a better publication now.

sadly enough, you are correct. Any of the other Pub candidates would have been crushed like bugs by the onslaught of the enemedia. Only President Trump could have put together the unique winning coalition that he put together.

Does anyone really believe that people would have crawled across broken glass to vote for Yeb! or that Cruz would have attracted independents and Democrats to vote for him? I don’t think so. Pretty much everyone but the die-hard “true conservatives” would have run away from Cruz screaming at the top of their lungs. And as for the rest, would have been the biggest GOP defeat in history.
