Current dietary advice says foods containing high levels of saturated fats such as cream, butter, red meat, eggs and cheese should be avoided because they increase the risk of heart disease, Type 2 diabetes and cancer.
But a study published in a leading medical journal has found the opposite is true, with a diet full of natural fats improving the health of people taking part.
Professor Sherif Sultan, a heart specialist from the University of Ireland, said: We urgently need to overturn current dietary guidelines."
"People should not be eating high carbohydrate diets as they have been told over the past decade.
Instead our diets should be largely based on good quality high-fat foods. This will prevent the rising epidemic of Type 2 diabetes and reverse the growing numbers of people suffering weight-related heart problems.
The study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, found overweight middle-aged men who ate high levels of saturated fat and low levels of carbohydrate became slimmer and healthier.
Researchers also saw reduced blood pressure and glucose levels, which are associated with a lower risk of heart disease, Type 2 diabetes and cancer, in the patients.

Father has been on statins for 30 years. He developed Parkinson’s about fifteen to twenty years later. The doctors never took him off. I finally insisted. The Statin sales people are fierce. Its hard to find a doctor that won’t push them even with cholesterol under 200. Sometimes the doctor will admit that he has to proscribe them but you don’t have to fill the prescription.
He has been living with the Parkinson’s for 13 years. It stopped getting worse after he stopped the statins. But now he is in his 80’s the disease had dominated his life.

Drs Fred and Alice Ottoboni debunked the fat to heart desease garbage way back in the ‘80s

Work out daily and still drink beer.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I had a German friend who said he could no longer drink beer after having bypass surgery. He claimed when digested it is transformed into carbohydrates.
What brand of collagen do you buy or does it matter?
How long have you been doing the bulletproof coffee? I’ve been doing it about a month. Perhaps it’s a placebo effect, but I am rarely hungry and I’m more mentally alert.

>> “You mean the “experts” were wrong?” <<
They weren’t experts, just propagandists, for the pharmaceutical industry.

I’ve cut out diet sodas and replaced it with Perrier and Lemon.
Thanks of the feedback. Sorry to hear about your father and PD.
We have seen an epidemic of PD with people we know, in laws and other people,
There have been all types of searches to why the epidemic of PD across the ethnic spectrum, sexes and middle to upper income.
The answer may be the #1 Rx ed family of drugs, the statins.
I am alerting our relatives and friends with PD to consider going off the statins. Also, if a blood relative has PD, other relatives might want to consider DC ing a statin or not going on it.
” And BACON! Which probably has its own drawbacks, but its a great treat if youre low-carbing, and we tell ourselves that everything evens out ;-)”
...but only if it’s gluten-free bacon...
About 10 years ago,I started having pain under my shoulder blade and decided a trip to the ER was called for. They put me through all of the standard tests and after having a stress test saw a shadow on the film. Of course, I was convinced a by pass was in my immediate future, after all, my mom gave me chicken fat sandwiches for lunch as a kid.I had an angiogram and my Dr.said he wished his arteries were so clear.
As a kid, I ate a very high fat diet....very Eastern European.
Similar here. Just no beer ;D. Nice work!! Live working out both cardio and resistance. I’ve been doing this essentially for 30 plus years and as a woman it shows! Whenever I tell anyone my age including kids and teenagers they all freak out. As I don’t look 15-20 years close to my age. Most importantly I feel amazing!
Genetics is much more important than any of this nutritional stuff (within reason). Of course, an unfortunate set of chromosomes can also result in a food sensitivity. The problem is that the individual so afflicted then proclaims the food or food group toxic for everyone.
My mother and I both tend to high lipids regardless of diet, but doesn’t seem to matter much as she is looking forward to her 100th birthday in April.

Fat is the key food for our body systems. Protein is for structure. Carbs are strictly fuel and have no discernible value aside frorm that.

Sugar in its natural state is no problem.
Refined, it becomes deadly.
Diets higher in fat and protein are typically lower in carbs — thus, one of the benefits of a higher fat diet.
I buy Great Lakes brand (green can) on Amazon.
I’ve been doing bulletproof coffee since last March. Normally I’m not a coffee drinker, but this stuff I love. It definitely keeps you feeling full and energetic. Not a placebo effect. I do not get the same effect with plain coffee or when I try to sub cream for the oil.
I started it a couple years ago when I developed RA, and it did decrease the symptoms dramatically. However, it is tough to get through the entire regime, and I fell off the wagon, but I'm going to start back up. Anyway, check it out, if you're ready for a serious program that offers a scientific approach.

Sugar in its natural state is in all of the vegetables we eat.
