Campus policeman shot the student, seriously injuring him.
From the video it appears there were many bystanders behind the target.
Looks like cop fired as last resort.
Given that the kid only had a knife, he should have been tasered.
Don’t care... he was threatening everyone with that knife, or what appeared to be a knife.
100% good shoot.
I’ve heard high school campus police say, “I don’t care if it’s an 8 year old with a toy gun, I’m going to take them out.” And then the guy paused actually waiting for applause.
Given that the kid only had a knife, he should have been tasered.

Deadly force was answered by deadly force.
You grow up! Tazers are a compliance tool. They are not a freakin freeze-ray!
I disagree. This isn't a Hollywood scripted knife fight with skilled martial artists. It's a duty cop vs a kid with a significant length knife. He was ordered to drop it and persisted. The cop had no duty to risk his life or the people nearby by playing junior ninja knife fighter.
My home defense plan includes a clean shot with no chance of errant rounds in neighbors' houses.
How nice. You're presupposing events that may or may not have happened. Allow me to do the same:
Since the kid with the knife was about to stab 10 other students to death, the cop shot him. And you have a problem with this??
I live about 40 miles from this incident. It was on the news here just after it happened, and while students were still on the campus.
FIRST of all-—the kid had 2 knives—long knives—more like machetes. He was behaving erratic. I don’t know why the surrounding students didn’t try to get out of the area—but they seemed fascinated by the goings on.
The cop needed to STOP this student & keep him from harming anyone else. I didn’t hear one way of the other if a Taser was involved, but he kid was out of control.
For all the Monday Morning Quarterbacks everywhere—keep in mind that trying to stop/secure a person who might be on drugs isn’t an easy call.

Looks like it.
Also, I read somewhere that the school had been aware for several days that this boy was being bullied by a group.
Can’t find link but will keep searching.
I could be wrong and am not defending his choices, but looks like he’s a good kid in a bad situation and was defending himself.

There’s a fifth rule: Always wear hearing and eye protection.
But sometimes exigencies preclude taking such safety precautions.
Learn it. Understand it. Get your friends together and try the exercise with a cap-gun and a rubber knife.
When the guns come out, get away.
Looks like he’s got knives in both hands.
