The Air Force One Boeing 747-200, which has been used to carry the President of the United States for the last 70 years, is reaching the its life expectancy next year, but the White House is yet to find replacements.
Although the jets can and have been driven safely in their old ages before - which is usually after 30 years - the US Air Force do not want to "take chances" with the President's safety.
Kevin Buckley, program executive officer of mobility programs at the US Air Force, said: We grit our teeth and bear it in the US Air Force.

I thought a new 747-8 replacement had already been purchased and was being re-fitted for AF1 duty? Or is that something else Obama didn't want to spend the money on because he needed it to resettle more Syrian refugees and bribe Iran?
If not, Trump can just keep using his own 757 for a while. It doesn't have all the fancy electronics, but all he really needs is the nuclear football and Twitter. :)

If Air Force One is going to fall from the sky, let it happen before the Inauguration... :^)

False.
747s are not 70 years old.

Obama’s incompetence on display again. I hope his children grow to despise him as much as I do.

Who wrote this garbage? The current VC-27 SAM 747 used for AF1 only entered service in 1987 i.e. 29 years ago.

I don’t know how that would work. Isn’t the President suppose to be hauled around by the Air Force?

I'm thinking this is kind of funny. President Elect Trump was going to have to leave his luxurious housing and fantastic personal transportation to be President. Now it looks like petulant Obama has locked him out of the Oval Office and AF1.
Can you imagine the uproar if Trump had said he didn't want to use the WH or AF1?

It’s all about safety issues.

747 first flight, Feb 7, 1969.
I remember. They flew over my house during testing as a kid.
