Greensboro, N.C. - A Greensboro police officer was stripped of his law enforcement credentials last week, after the release of police body camera footage that showed him violently arresting a man for sitting on his own porch.
Police body cameras have been in the news in Charlotte, involving the fatal shooting by a police officer of Keith Lamont Scott.

I live out in the country as well. The county sheriff said with the layoff’s and all we’re basically on our own. Fortunately there are meth labs up in the mountains and the city folks don’t come near us. LOL

I have no idea who wrote the link claiming he had warrants, nor have I seen that confirmed. But your link did say the city settled with the guy they arrested.

There are rumors she had a restraining order against him, which would explain a lot. Perhaps some resourceful FReeper could determine the veracity of that allegation.

Most cops would laugh in your face and forget about cutting you a break on that taillight violation... I'm talking about serious situations...not stops involving a broken tail light.Of course you're not gonna threaten to sue a cop for millions over a minor issue like that.OTOH if you're being seriously abused...detained without just cause, for example...you just might do so.

Is bammy going to publicly announce that the police “acted stupidly” or was the guy White?

What RK did to deserve the smackdown
BS, King was pursued, then stopped, failed to cooperate, failed to obey commands, was drugged up, etc.
Comparing the King event to this incident is ludicrous.

The police were just doing their jobs, following standard procedure. There is no evidence of any policeman violating anyone’s rights.

I couldn't find a second source to confirm a restraining order. I would think the GPD would have released this info to the public.

I found one record (just a web search) of an earlier arrest for failure to appear. I’ve not had a chance to see if the circuit court of that county has online public records.
I am not familiar with the source of my earlier link. However I have no reason to doubt the veracity of something that could be verified with authorities if it was ever challenged.

That was a disgrace. Both cops — good riddance.

Watch out for cops.
Watch harder at the ones with tattoos.

He had broken into the residence twice before. And he had outstanding warrants. He was a threat to his own mother.

My brother in law on the Fort Worth police department will eventually be filmed and wind up on one of these threads.Having family and close friends in law enforcement gives you a unique view of what is going on in their culture.
I have 4 siblings and several close friends (one military buddy that spent all his time in the brig who is now FWPD) that are/were cops.
I love them all, and they are basically good people, but they will defend any action by any cop at any time. Their "brothers in blue" come before their own blood family.

So the woman who owned the house, the guy's mother, had a restraining order out on her own son, one suspects for good reason. If that were true, you'd hear it from the police, not a couple of local rumor spreaders (blogs).
