Greensboro, N.C. - A Greensboro police officer was stripped of his law enforcement credentials last week, after the release of police body camera footage that showed him violently arresting a man for sitting on his own porch.
Police body cameras have been in the news in Charlotte, involving the fatal shooting by a police officer of Keith Lamont Scott.

These former cops should never have been given any authority in the first place. The man who lived there offered 3x to take him across the street to confirm with a neighbor he was staying there. The cops declined and ignored him.
We know how often cops abuse dogs needlessly, and with the increased use of body cams, we are starting to see their treatment of humans too.
The culture needs to be changed.

Exactly. By holding cops to common sense standards, we are helping the profession. Bad or dumb cops eventually embarrass the good cops, who thankfully are the majority.
I don’t know police procedures, but maybe they are trained to not do that for certain reasons. I do have some questions. If the guy lived there, why didn’t he have a key, or know where the hide a key was? Why was he holding a shovel against the garage door to get into it? Where did he get it from? Why didn’t he have any ID when asked to give it? He gave a name, but it couldn’t be verified, even when they looked it up. The cop noticed prison tattoos, and the man said yes, he had been to prison, and that’s where he got them, but that was a while ago. I’m just saying that there MAY be more to the story (I don’t know).
My husband, who watched the whole video (lengthy) said he thought maybe the cop was doing things he shouldn’t, and then when the cop explained after cuffing, that he had been threatened with the phone call requesting another party to get involved, well, that’s when my husband gave the cop the benefit of the doubt. My husband said that’s when he thought there might be more going on with police procedure, and since neither he nor I have received police training, perhaps we are at a disadvantage to understand the reasons behind them. I just think there could be a situation as the guy’s version, the cop’s version, and the truth of it all somewhere in between.

Officer Charlotte N. Jackson resigned this week, according to Greensboro Police spokesperson Susan Danielsen cited by Triad City Beat,
likely due to public outcry over the female cop’s role in the harassment, intimidation, and assault on resident Dejuan Yourse.
On June 17, Yourse waited for his mom to meet him at the house he’s intermittently shared with her for a decade, and because he did not have a current key, she asked him to wait on the front porch in the quiet neighborhood.

Not having a key to his mother’s house was an issue as far as believability. How many children living in the same town don’t have a key to their parent’s house? He later said he didn’t live there, he had an apartment at Big Tree.
Doesn’t excuse the later behavior, but it wasn’t adding up, what the guy was saying.
I'm sure some of the 98% drop in complaints is due to the officers not stepping over the line, however the vast majority of the decrease
is because now the officers have proof the complainant's were in the wrong, and acting thuggish.
There’s a difference between odd, suspicious, and probable cause necessary to make an arrest.
Worse, this just drives the narrative that the police are the enemy. This video will go viral and several thousand more people will come to the conclusion that the police are just a bunch of thugs with badges.
The police rely upon people to talk to them. To report crimes annd admit to them. If the reflexive response becomes “never call, never talk to the police” then we might as well just lay the cops off because they’ll be useless.
My take. The officer did overreact. It was right to fire him. But the man was lying and his story did not track. No one would use a shovel to see if a dog was in a garage. Also he changed his story about living there. First he said he did live there but then changed it to he was “in and out” when asked about having a key.
My gut instinct is that he did want to get into his mom’s house by breaking in but when he could not pry the garage door he figured he would just wait for her. He probably wanted some money from her. I wonder if he has a record of drug charges or B&E.

I missed that part,Yes,that's noteworthy;it's understandable that the cop might have feared that he was calling his "posse",perhaps guys that he did time with.IMO there's enough info in the video...stuff to which the guy admitted...to make the cop quite suspicious.Add to that that the guy started getting aggressive and I'm inclined to give the cop the benefit of the doubt.I just can't understand why anyone would want to resist a cop or fight with a cop...even when you're convinced that you're being treated illegally,In a case like *that* you obey all the cop's orders and,when all the dust has settled,you get a lawyer and sue for millions.
