Greensboro, N.C. - A Greensboro police officer was stripped of his law enforcement credentials last week, after the release of police body camera footage that showed him violently arresting a man for sitting on his own porch.

Police body cameras have been in the news in Charlotte, involving the fatal shooting by a police officer of Keith Lamont Scott.

The cops acted stupidly.
Will Obama invite them to a beer summit?

I’m less concerned about what the blm idiots do than what the reaction will be of the thousands who see this and conclude that they should simply avoid the police at all costs. Don’t call them, don’t talk to them, don’t cooperate with them.

James Duane’s video has already been viewed over 6 million times. At what point does it become impossible for police to do their job because no one who matters will talk to them?

There’s a difference between odd, suspicious, and probable cause necessary to make an arrest.

OK...having only watched up to the point where the scuffle started I just might be missing something here. But how does this sound...why don't you play "devil's advocate" and make the best case you can in favor of the cop having good reason to be suspicious enough to at least "detain" the guy as cops sometimes do.

In the several posts I've already done in this thread I've explained why I'm inclined to give the cop the benefit of the doubt. However,I do recognize that even given "reasonable suspicion" this matter could have been handled *much* better by *both* sides.

Doesn't matter if it added op to these morons in search of crime that never existed. He was cooperating fully, and explained over and over the situation, then offered to walk across the street to a neighbor he NAMED to confirm it was his Mom's house. They declined and ignored him.

I'd sue the s**t out of them.

Sure they could have done worse. They could have played Rodney King with him, or shot him. They could have called him a racial epithet too.

That would sure be helpful given that they seem dedicated to the idea of driving the public’s distrust of police. “See the police, warna brother” is the mantra I’ve seen.

So that makes the story untrue?

Get real, Rodney King took them into pursuit then was totally uncooperative with the cops and was drugged up. This guy was sitting on his Moms porch.

Back to reality.

One guy, well kid at 21 was in the police academy here about 2 years ago . His experience was not college, not military,l no foreign language, no past law enforcement. Nothing. He got the job here at the Sheriff’s dept and all he ever told people was that he could not wait to get his police car sitting in his driveway, knock down doors and take names.

Sadly this idiot and many others like him work at the Sheriff’s dept now.

These are the power hungry idiots which give police a bad name, and then some depts wonder why many people have a hard time supporting them.

Actually it was his Mom's house. He tried to call her and the call went to a generic VM greeting. And he had a criminal record. Some suspicion was warranted but the officers let this get way out of hand. If the guy being hassled had just shut up and said he wasn't talking to them anymore I wonder what the cops would have done.

I haven't left my house for many years, even to pull weeds in the front yard or get the mail, without my ID in my right front pocket. I have to wonder why this guy wasn't able to easily identify himself.

The other thing I don't understand is why the officers didn't want to go with him to a neighbor's house to prove that he belonged on his mom's front porch.

There was plenty of stupid to go around on this one.

BTW...I just clicked the link in Post #61.Turns out that the mom had a restraining order out on the son.Any thoughts on that? IMO that argues strongly in favor of the cop being suspicious of the guy.I wonder why she had that restraining order.I wonder what he,a guy who's done prison time, might have done if the mom had come home to find him there.

Seems to me that, just like with the Gentle Giant,Saint Trayvon and others, the more you learn about the "mistreated minority" and the "mistreatment" he/she suffered the less it looks like mistreatment.

Just sayin'...

You apparently didn’t watch the video very closely. The shovel was on the line, he was checking to see if his dog was in the garage, he gave his name and his mother and his neighbor’s name first, but when asked after a moment’s searching he found and provided his ID.

All he said on the phone, quite accurately, was that he was on his mother’s porch getting harassed by the police.

I don’t know how you and your husband could possibly see any of what this guy did in the wrong and what the cops did as possibly in the right.

The dog in the garage story would be my guess for the cop’s suspicion. As I posted in another reply who would pry at a garage door to see if a dog was inside? Someone who would not want neighbors to hear him knocking on the garage door. Not only that it is your mom’s house why would you be worried about the dog? Certainly not that it would attack you. It must know you if you live there or are in and out all the time. No you would be worried that the dog would start raising Cain if you tried to break in through the garage and it was in there.

I think it odd too that even though a neighbor called you don’t see any other neighbors coming out and saying “Hey I know him. It’s o.k. officer.” Maybe the neighbor who called had been told to call the police if they saw her son at her house. Just a thought.

He has his own apartment, as he explained, on a nearby street. To me it not that surprising that he doesn’t have his mother’s key.

it will never change due to the us against them mentality.

I have met some good , no great cops, but there are about half here in this county and the city which are the biggest turds going.
They only talk to you when they want to shout at you, treat people like crap and never drive around neighborhoods with their windows down and getting out of their vehicles to say hi to the kids and neighbors.

Smaller depts like here have nothing to do , and look for any excuse top give you tickets, and when you question them in a nice way ,they give an attitude back.

How dumb do you have to be to do something like this while wearing a body cam?

It make one wonder what they've been able to get away with when they weren't wearing body cams.

Vote Trump!

They have computers in their cars. They can easily look up the address, and see who lives there.
They obviously never , or looked to cause some trouble as an excuse to show who has power .
