Voters in five battleground states declared Hillary Clinton the winner of this weeks debate against Donald Trump, boosting her fortunes in those key races, a new poll showed Thursday.
A majority of voters in Colorado, Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Virginia all told Public Policy Polling that Clinton got the better of Trump in their first showdown.
The Public Policy poll was taken Tuesday and Wednesday, giving voters at least one night to digest Mondays slugfest at Hofstra University.
Clintons debate also helped her bounce to leads in all five states, according to the poll.
In four-way races that include the Libertarian and Green Party candidates, Clinton led Trump in Virginia and Colorado by identical margins of 46 to 40 percent.
She was also ahead in Pennsylvania (45 to 39 percent), Florida (45 to 43 percent) and North Carolina (44 to 42 percent)

These are polls of debate outcome not voter preference. I would say the way the debate went that she won it. But it has not changed my vote at all.
“I think it was an electronic wave of some sort to keep her from passing out, coughing, losing her grip ... whatever...”
What other conditions and diseases does Electronic Wave Therapy cure?
They also oversampled women (53% to 47%).
All of these are within the margin of error and are probably going to flip back and forth on any given day. The only poll that counts will happen on November 8.
Public Policy Polling is owned and operated by the Democrat party.
Watching the incredible hearings going on in Washington over the IRS, Benghazi and Hillary email corruption should make everyone who cares about our country mad as hell.
What beyond bribery or death threats could possibly lead James Comey to throw our legal system in the toilet as he has done?
Voting for anyone but Trump is saying, Lets keep this system in place. I am willing to serve the corrupt elite class that controls the beltway.
There is only one person with the ability to change the course on. I pray that he wins and pray he stays with his policy of bringing America back to the glory it once knew so we can protect and preserve our liberty.
The poll of Nov 8 counts.
But Trump allowed her to take the first debate, and it should be reflected in current polls.
It is simply imperative, for him to show up big time, for debates 2 and 3.
No excuses.
True or not, Trump needs to be much better prepared in the final two debates.
Democratic dreaming.
I'd like to see a remote controlled strobe in place of that lectern light for the next debate.
Not good.
The debate was the vehicle by which the MSM was going to re-establish the post convention bounce. What a crock.
When RCP posts a PPP poll they put(D) next to it, what does that tell you?
Her light was on while she was walking back to the lectern at the start of the debate (rear camera shows them both approaching their lecterns), and Trump had no light at all.
After the debate, hillary's light stayed on until after she physically left the lectern ... and of course, there was no light at Trump's.
My wave conclusion is based on what I have seen and read in the past about technology without really KNOWING what it is I read or saw.
Just that there is research and perhaps development in that area.
True. He’ll be hammering away at Hillary in the next two debates on Benghazi and e-mails which will score him major political points, but the next day the MSM will say he was mean, aggressive and being a chauvinist pig while Hillary was calm and collected with this madman going ballistic on her. The MSM has its talking points already prepared.
I know we seem fond here of pointing that out, but that COULD be valid. Democrats have tended recently in presidential elections to vote more than R and I in that manner.
The big question, the one unknown this election that could make ALL these polls absolutely meaningless, is what is going to be the breakdown THIS election. Many of use believe and certainly hope, that the D+ margins are not going to be seen this time. My gut feeling is that D+ might still vote more that R, but by a (much?) smaller margin.
He should listen to Rudy’s advice and skip the remaining debates!!!
Granted he wasn’t adequately prepared for the first debate.
Still, it became two (HRC and Holt) against one.
The second debate will be even worse with three (HRC, Cooper and Raddatz) against one.
And, appearing in the final debate, moderated by Wallace, is out of the question. He is just as unacceptable as Megyn Kelly and will, no doubt, be another willing accomplice to aid her.
Why do GOP nominees accept these horrible biased debate stipulations???!!!
No this is a poll of voter preference, not debate outcome. On that question the results in all States gave the win heavily to Clinton.
To be clear I do not put much credibility in these huge swings, especially in such a short time and over something like a debate which historically almost NEVER moves the needle much or for any period of time.
Finally we don’t seem to have any trend lines from PPP to determine any strengthening of Clintons position.
I do believe these “results” and storylines about the debate were all written before the actual debate and Clinton would have been declared the big winner in every case save she passed out midway through. Even then the Lib media would have claimed it was Trumps fault for being too aggressive.
An observation of the video, pre-debate: why did Hillary exit the van on the driver’s side after the rest of the people had exited on the passenger side? Did she not want us to see her getting helped out of the van? Did she not want us to see her hesitate (to get her bearings) before she started walking?
