I'm not real cool with people being forced to disrobe on a public beach unless they are dressed in a tent like structure which conceals their identity. If that's the necessary law to prevent terrorist cockroaches from slinking around, then so be it. But if it is just a matter of someone being a little overdressed, let's say an 1890s style swimsuit, then it is excessive.

I'd hate to think I'd be subject to arrest if I accidentally wandered into a nude beach, for instance. Of course, I'm at the age where they would probably pay me to put my clothes back on.

I hate Muslims as much as much as most westerners; however, some women wear a headscarf for medical reasons. My wife has cancer, and has undergone radiation and chemo treatments. After one strong series of treatments, she lost all her hair and wore headscarfs and hats everywhere. So I know not to diss anyone for wearing a scarf. But she was told to stay out of the sun if possible, and certainly wouldn't be sunbathing on the beach with a headscarf. Otherwise, in public be understanding of why some women wear headscarfs.

I respectfully disagree with many of the posters here. Why don't the French just deport/keep out of the country the Western hating Muslims? The French do almost nothing about the attacks on Jews - that seems to be no big deal, but let a woman wear a burkini, then they get all excited.

From what I have seen of the ugly shapes of many people in bikinis on U.S. beaches, I'd rather see them in burkinis. A friend of mine has very sensitive skin and family history of skin cancer, and she wore long sleeved coverup from Coolibar when taking the kids to the beach.
