NASHVILLE, Tenn. Vanderbilt University announced Monday that it will pay more than a million dollars to remove an inscription containing the word Confederate from one of its campus dorms.
The private university has referred to the Confederate Memorial Hall simply as Memorial Hall since 2002, but was blocked in court from changing the name chiseled on the building because it was constructed with the help of a $50,000 gift from the United Daughters of the Confederacy in 1933.
Under the agreement, Vanderbilt will pay $1.2 million, the equivalent of the gift made 83 years ago, to the organizations Tennessee chapter. In exchange, the chapter will relinquish its naming rights to the building

PC run a muck.
Exactly what these PC a$$holes should have to pay. Take a gift and then renege. Pay the price.
There can be no remaining hint that the Dominance of the New York/Washington D.C. cartel was ever challenged.
So glad the Ladies are holding firm on this, you don’t get to change your mind without paying.
I don’t like it, but at least they had to pay to reject the gift and its terms.
Here's a little inspiration for today's American Stalinists. Notice how the little man on the far right simply disappeared.
8th Chancellor of Vanderbilt University Nicholas Zeppos was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1954. He received both his B.A. in history and his J.D. from the University of WisconsinMadison.
Zeppos was the fifth highest-paid university president in the United States in 2012, with an estimated salary of $2.2 million according to Forbes.
FU Vandy.
Curse you to never win sports events.
Did the anonymous schmuck...er, donor, who paid for the settlement also chip in to a fund for psychological counseling for those snowflakes traumatized by having to walk under ‘that word’?
We already have a ‘C’ word in the lexicon. How ever shall we refer to this forbidden word?
"Nicholas Zeppos"...is he the last living member of the Marx brothers?

Ignorance and stupidity from a so-called school of learning. One big joke. Why would anyone attend such an institution?
I am surprised the UDC agreed to the deal.
It would just be delicious - hold a celebration for the renaming of the hall, invite all the liberals who pushed for it, do the math and give them each a bill for their share of the cost.
Please note they have not yet paid: "The money has been pledged by anonymous donors..."
It is notoriously difficult to turn pledges into actual donations.
(Insert eye-roll here)
I am ashamed to say I graduated from Vandy (I got a scholarship there or I would have gone to Bama) but they have always been a bastion of liberal PC crap. Much of their funding comes from the Ford Foundation - enough said. We are double cursed in sports now.
